Contestant No. 9β Rae Venna
My name is Rae Venna and I am from Virginia Beach, VA. I am 22 years-old and I own a childrenβs entertainment company which I started when I was 20 years-old, shortly after moving to Fairfax, VA. I am half Taiwanese, a quarter Japanese, and a quarter Scottish and Native American. Growing up with a diverse background has allowed me to gain more insight into intercultural understanding.
Starting a small business has been one of the biggest challenges I have faced. My company, Ever Laughter Parties, specializes in costumed character entertainment such as princesses and superheroes. We perform for many different kinds of events like birthday parties, and we even host large scale events such as tea parties and royal balls with 100-200 attendees. I am responsible for every aspect of my company including hiring, accounting, scheduling, photography, event planning, marketing, and so much more. Even though it is a huge responsibility, it has also been very rewarding. Seeing the smiles on childrenβs faces when their favorite character walks through the door is the best feeling in the world. We are able to see more smiling faces and give back to the community by volunteering at the childrenβs hospital and making appearances at fundraisers such as Your Sunshineβs Special Needs Hidden Talent Show.
My other hobbies include dancing, singing, acting, directing, photography, and videography. I recently appeared in Infinity Stageβs production of Cinderella, The New Musical, and Little Theatre of Alexandriaβs production of Anne of Green Gables, The Musical. I also recently directed Black Friday for Infinity Stageβs Short Play Festival and assistant directed Sterling Playmakerβs The 39 Steps. My dream is to become an actress so I can represent Asian Americans in television and film. I would also like to start a film company where I can act, direct, and produce films that tell the stories of people from different cultural backgrounds.
Through the Pacific Miss Asian American Pageant, I hope to raise cultural awareness by inspiring minority women to pursue leadership positions and to learn to be confident in themselves.
