The tale of El MICHELADA involves a man named Michel Ésper at Club Deportivo Potosino in San Luis Potosí, Mexico. In the 1960s, Ésper began to ask for his beer with lime, salt, ice, and a straw, in a cup called "chabela", as if it were a beer lemonade (limonada). Members of the club started asking for beer as "Michel's lemonade", with the name shortening over time to Michelada.

In the spirit of Mardi Gras season, we took a trip to New Orleans to brush up on our knowledge of the Creole flair in bartending. New Orleans has been known for their night life and underground bar scene since the beginning of Prohibition. Little did I know, Tiki developed heavily in this area. Among my favorite that I will bring to the Tipsy Pony menu for 2024, The Gin Fizz and The Jazz Funeral and The Sazerac.
