Boys need senior sessions too!

I know guys aren’t usually as interested in photos as girls, (and they may just take senior photos because mom wants them to) but their senior year is worth capturing!

When they are away at school, you will be so glad to have those memories printed as heirloom albums or a wall print. And I guarantee even these reluctant boys will be glad they had their senior photos taken!

🐚SENIOR BEACH SESSION FAQ🐚 I get lots of questions about senior sessions on the beach so I thought I would answer some of them here! (AND C/0 2025 I WILL BE DOING BEACH SESSIONS MARCH 21-23 SO DM ME IF YOU WANT MORE INFO!)

✨ What's your favorite beach to shoot at? Ok this is kind of like trying to choose a favorite child - not possible, but here are a few things I love about my favorite beachES. Santa Cruz: there are some beaches with amazing cliffs that are super dramatic, big waves and super blue water. Pajaro Dunes -- well, the DUNES! They make for some awesome photos! And MAYBE my favorite of them all is Asilomar Beach in Pacific Grove -- is has the whitest sand I've ever seen in California, super blue water, dunes, big rocks, wildflowers -- basically it has it all.

✨ Do we HAVE to do beach sessions when you schedule on specific weekends? No, but my weekends are super limited so I don't have many open AND when you do your beach session on the dates I will already be there, it saves you $150 travel fee!

✨ What should I wear for a beach session? I recommend bringing several outfits, but my all-time favorite are flowy dresses. (and see that gorgeous shot that I turned sideways so you could see the whole thing -- I have that dress in 4 colors and it's epic on the beach). I also always recommend bringing a cute layering item because you just never know what the weather will be like on the beach and you don't want to freeze!

✨ PUBLISHED ✨ I was notified last night that two of my images had been published in Teen Years Magazine Best of 2024! There were over 3000 images submitted, so this is a huge honor for me and for the teens who were published (one of which is my daughter from the birthday photos we did on our trip to Joshua Tree last year!)

I also wanted to congratulate Miss M on her feature. I've been photographing her since she was a baby and it's been amazing to see her grow up before my lens!

My number one question from seniors is "What should I wear" so I thought I would spotlight some of my favorite outfit categories over the next few weeks as senior sessions are in full swing! My first spotlight is Flowy Maxi Dresses!

Flowy maxi dresses are one of my absolute favorite items (and one of the reasons why I have so many of them in my client closet!)💃 Here are some reasons why:

1. Flowy maxi dresses are incredibly versatile and can be styled in different ways to suit almost any location or theme including gardens, a field of flowers, the beach, or in an urban setting.

Day 11 of “12 Days of Christmas Minis” is last year’s Campfire Mini Sessions. If you’ve followed me for any amount of time, you probably know that my family is pretty outdoorsy and we love to camp. I found the perfect little private campground about 15 minutes from my house (!) and the owners were amazing and let us do the session on their property. It turned out exactly as I imagined and I think the stores were a pretty big hit with the kids as well.

Day 10 of “12 Days of Christmas Minis” is my Studio Gift Wrap sessions from 2022! I thought it would be so fun to have stacks and stacks of gifts, gift wrap and all the things that go with wrapping presents during the holidays. I saved all my amazon boxes for months haha!

Day 9 of “12 Days of Christmas Minis” is my Wreath Shoppe minis from 2021. This is another top 5 for me! I loved this session so much! I bought so much greenery, my house smelled amazing all season long. This session was inspired by the handmade wreaths that are sold at our tree farm as well as the classes that I’ve seen posted online from some local venues every year. There’s just something about a handmade holiday decoration that is so nostalgic and it made for the perfect backdrop!

Day 8 of “12 Days of Christmas Minis” is Tree Farm Minis from 2020. This was another client favorite. Not sure if it was the trees or the fact that it was at Apple Hill, but these sessions booked up in record time and I had to add a second day! We have cut our tree down every year since I was born (except for the two Christmases we lived in Utah and one year when it was raining too much so we couldn’t do it - and I HATED that tree lol!) So I HAD to do Tree Farm mini sessions (and I think this one may be on the list to do again at some point) — what do you think?

15 years ago I was a young mom with two toddlers and I was gone multiple evenings a week doing photoshoots. I wasn’t home for my kids and I knew something had to change. When I first considered offering mini sessions, I was worried that the quality of the session would suffer and that it would hurt the boutique brand I had built over the previous 5 years. But after some trial and error I figured out how to offer boutique mini sessions to my clients and it transformed my business.
