Day 11 of “12 Days of Christmas Minis” is last year’s Campfire Mini Sessions. If you’ve followed me for any amount of time, you probably know that my family is pretty outdoorsy and we love to camp. I found the perfect little private campground about 15 minutes from my house (!) and the owners were amazing and let us do the session on their property. It turned out exactly as I imagined and I think the stores were a pretty big hit with the kids as well.

Day 10 of “12 Days of Christmas Minis” is my Studio Gift Wrap sessions from 2022! I thought it would be so fun to have stacks and stacks of gifts, gift wrap and all the things that go with wrapping presents during the holidays. I saved all my amazon boxes for months haha!

Day 9 of “12 Days of Christmas Minis” is my Wreath Shoppe minis from 2021. This is another top 5 for me! I loved this session so much! I bought so much greenery, my house smelled amazing all season long. This session was inspired by the handmade wreaths that are sold at our tree farm as well as the classes that I’ve seen posted online from some local venues every year. There’s just something about a handmade holiday decoration that is so nostalgic and it made for the perfect backdrop!

Day 8 of “12 Days of Christmas Minis” is Tree Farm Minis from 2020. This was another client favorite. Not sure if it was the trees or the fact that it was at Apple Hill, but these sessions booked up in record time and I had to add a second day! We have cut our tree down every year since I was born (except for the two Christmases we lived in Utah and one year when it was raining too much so we couldn’t do it - and I HATED that tree lol!) So I HAD to do Tree Farm mini sessions (and I think this one may be on the list to do again at some point) — what do you think?

DAY 6 OF “12 Days of Christmas Minis” is my Christmas Canoe minis from 2019. Even though I always try to come up with something unique for my sessions, it’s hard to create something totally new — I mean EVERYTHING has been done somewhere right?! So I was especially excited for these sessions because I had never seen anything like this done before. I shot these sessions at a location where we like to go kayaking and that was the inspiration for these sessions! (and I can’t tell you the number of people who saw us carrying the canoe down to the river with alarm on their faces and warned us that we really shouldn’t go on that part of the river in a canoe. As if we were really going to go on the river with a bunch of gifts and a christmas tree….?) 😂

Day 4 of “12 Days of Christmas Minis” is Christmas Cookie minis from 2019. One of my amazing clients was so incredibly generous to allow me to use her gorgeous kitchen for the backdrop of our sessions. And it was perfect!

Day 3 of “12 Days of Christmas Minis” is my Sugar Plum mini session from 2018. This session was inspired by the nutcracker, of course! I have taken my girls to see the nutcracker almost every year so this was an especially fun session for me to style! My clients were so amazing to travel all the way to Sacramento to this gorgeous studio space I found (so happy we have local studio options these days!)

When I am helping a senior guy plan for his session, one of the things I am asked the most is "What on earth should I wear?" With girls it's easy because we can add in some flowy dresses or something a little "extra" to make the session fun, but boys arent' really into those sorts of things (I mean let's be honest, most boys would love to get the session done as quickly as possible and are probably only doing it for their moms amiright?

Hunter did a great job of having a variety of looks for his senior session! We mixed in a little dressy with a little casual and added in some of his sportswear. If you have a letterman jacket, bring it to your session! They are expensive and you really won't wear it after high school, so it should be documented! 😆

If you are a Class of '25 senior, I am currently booking January-April sessions. Spring books up extremely fast, so don't wait until it starts to get warm to get on my calendar because you may be out of luck.

I absolutely loved this session! I was so excited to find out they'd had a new addition since our last session. Since I stopped photographing newborns a few years ago, I don't often get babies anymore, but I LOVE it when I do! I kind of wanted to bring her home with me. :)

I'm trying to post some of the awesome families I was able to capture this fall (who knows when I'll get them all posted haha!) but the Valley was showing off this fall, even though it came late and ended quick this year! I feel like I'm always waiting and waiting for fall to show it's face in NorCal but I love it so much when it finally gets here!

I love doing family photoshoots at locations that are meaningful to my families! (especially when they are as amazing as this family's property in the Delta!). It had been cloudy all day but at the very last few minutes before sunset, the sun popped out with the most incredible sunset! We made a beeline to the top of the levy to capture the light. Scroll to the end to see the results! I often get asked if it's OK to bring the family dog to a session. And that is a resounding YES (as long as the location allows dogs). This session was extra fun with more dogs than kids, but it's especially great when you have teenagers who may not be as interested in photos as they were when they were kids. So keep that in mind when planning out your family session!

This session was a bucket list dream come true for me. When we were discussing the session, I got a text from mom that said "I have this crazy idea...." and my ears perked up. I love crazy ideas! 😆 And I also love being able to showcase each senior's interests and talents so when mom told me she wanted to put a baby grand piano in a field I was there for it!
