Our Story
Karla Malanga, Owner of Karla's Garden Studio, specializes in floral design, interior design, special event coordination, greenhouse and garden work, catered events, and graphic design. Karla possesses a friendly, personable and professional manner, that creates confidence with each client’s particular needs. She is very flexible with every individual’s vision, style, taste and budget, while introducing her own unique ideas, concepts and style so that the two can be blended to create a wonderful and tastefully done project. Karla has a strong ability to multi task, exceptional communication skills, as well as, computer, sales and organizational skills. She has extensive experience and a strong background in management and in the Food and Beverage industry. Karla has been self employed since 1985 and some of her other artistic endeavors have included special sign painting, scrap booking display boards, calligraphy work, mural painting, play set design and painting, window displays, and retail store layout and designs. Aside from her passion for florals, Karla also enjoys weaving, bobbin lace, spinning and textile work. Her other areas of interest include art, horticulture, cross country skiing, downhill skiing, hiking, volleyball, softball, holistic healing, spiritual education, and animals.
FLORAL DESIGN: Karla has been creating custom floral arrangements, wreaths and centerpieces and sympathy pieces since 1982. She specializes in weddings, special events, and holidays. INTERIOR DESIGN: Karla has been specializing in room staging, remixing, furniture placement, custom stenciling, faux painting, mural painting, color and style consultations, and shopping for design pieces since 1981.
SPECIAL EVENTS COORDINATOR/PLANNER: Karla and her team assist with the planning and coordination of special events such as family reunions, birthday parties, private dinners, retirement parties, golf outings, weddings, New Years balls, theme parties, grand openings, presentations, open houses, musical showcases, art shows, catered events, bridsl showers, baby showers, backyard barbeques, etc. Any special event that comes up, Karlas Garden Studio is here to help! Karlas Garden Studio possesses the ability, vision and creativity to orchestrate, set up, display, and decorating from traditional to unusual, and everything in between, using the various themes and styles necessary to complete your project in a timely efficient manner. CATERED EVENTS: Karla has years of experience catering weddings, parties, open houses, grand openings, fashion shows, art shows, craft festivals, and balls. GREENHOUSE, GARDEN WORK: Karla has an immense passion for gardening and has been doing so since 1981. She is talented in gardenscape and design work, sowing of seeds, transplanting, displaying planters, tending to small water gardens, herb gardens, and annual and perennial gardens and plants.
GRAPHIC DESIGN: Karla is very familiar with brochure work, business cards, web sites, advertising ads, and display boards since 1985. Special recognition: Designer for Meals on Wheels office project, 1st, 2nd, 3rd placements in various juried art and craft shows, Presented for Monroe County Garden Club living wreath demonstration, Best of show on House Tour sponsored by Ladies of the Bangor Library, Participated in Chamber of Commerce and Jacob Stroud functions, speeches and special presentations for various community groups, demonstrations and class instruction for various groups, etc. References and pictures of work available upon request!
