There will not be a festival this year. Chippokes will host a Steam & Gas Show in June and Harvest Festival in October.

The PPP became an institution in festivals South of the James and across rural Southside Virginia ever since its inception in 1976. For many years in addition to celebrating the three major agricultural products of Surry County and the region, the festival's success was an arts and craft show showcasing over 200 artisans and vendors at its peak in the 1980s. The involvement of civic organizations fundraising in the community was a major part of the festival's success for many years. Local, regional and national entertainment drew crowds to hear their performances.

At the end of the summer of 2018, the committee has made the decision to table having an event. In 2019 the committee made the difficult decision to no longer host a festival and the remaining funds were divided among various civic groups including the Friends of Chippokes, Surry, Dendron, & Claremont Volunteer Fire Departments, Surry Volunteer Rescue Squad, and Surry 4H.

We thank our faithful sponsors and those that have attended every year and for all the memories that were made.
