Coming soon to The Kitchen Station
Tuesday, January 06, 2015 - The Story: I never planned on going back into the restaurant business, being that I had a restaurant in Texas, and I felt my kids needed me more since they were very little at the time, however I DID know cooking was a part of me and in my soul through my Nana and my Mother, who have both passed away. I simply LOVE cooking and I'm ext
remely PASSIONATE about New Mexico Style Food. I don't claim to know everything, however the things I do cook I know WELL! And that's the foods my Mother, Rita taught me. Flavors of New Mexico like when she was a little girl in Roswell, with a family of 15 siblings. I remember being a little girl, my Dad had passed away and it was only my Mom and my 2 siblings, and the school bus would leave me off, on the next block, and I could SMELL her cooking all the way home. I'd be soooo hungry I'd come running... it was her way of showing us LOVE. We didn't have much materially, however we had a Mother who LOVED us, and I knew she put her heart into everything she made for us. So fast forward.... I've been here in Temecula as Realtor (been licensed since 1992) and it's the only job that worked well for me being a Mother of 7, yes 7... so I got back into the Real Estate Business here, and I didn't have much to offer anyone as far as thanking them when I first started, EXCEPT for my love and appreciation. In example: in Real Estate I expressed my THANK YOU by giving them tamale dinners, or by catering their house warming party at close of escrow... for my kids teachers at school...as a THANK YOU for teaching my children, I appreciate YOU, for church functions and events...a lot of times for PEOPLE OFF THE STREETS ASKING FOR MONEY... I'D GIVE THEM my FOOD... NO ONE SHOULD BE HUNGRY, AND EVERYONE DESERVES THE BEST DARN TAMALES EVER! I wanted to make everyone smile with my Mom's cooking that I enjoyed growing up! I just gave from my heart the only thing I knew would make them smile... my food because it's what my Mother gave when she had nothing to give but her LOVE when someone would come hungry at her door. So time and time again when the word Tamales came up, my friends and clients would refer me, next thing you know it... I'm all over Temecula Talks raving fans and wonderful sincere reviews, being referred over and over, my name in head lights and ultimately getting reported to E.Health.... amazing on one hand and not so good on the other which is when I knew there was NO WAY TO STOP. I was so grateful to E.H for getting an anonymous tip that I was not permitted to be giving my tamales away to the public or taking orders and as much as my clients, fans and friends thought they were doing good, I got cited. I wasn't doing it for money, anyone who makes tamales, even the NOT SO GOOD ONE'S knows there is NO profit in Tamales, alone! A blessing in disguise, it lit a fire under my feet to NOT QUIT BECAUSE THINGS GET HARD or SOMEONE IS HATING ON ME, TRUST ME, THAT'S NOT THE FIRST TIME, LOL and TO SOLVE THE PROBLEM...GOD GIFTED ME WITH THIS TALENT, HE CAN ONLY TAKE IT AWAY, NO ONE ELSE CAN! SO I'M GETTING PERMITTED SO THAT ALL MY CLIENTS AND FANS CAN RAVE ABOUT ME ALL THEY WANT AND REFER ME TO WHOMEVER THEY WANT!!! I WILL START OFF SLOWLY BY USING A CATERING KITCHEN, GET MY CATERING PERMIT, SO I CAN SELL TO THE PUBLIC FREELY. Working around my schedule for my children DOING WHAT I LOVE TO DO.... COOK FOR YOU ALL! I hope to SEE you all on my GRAND OPENING in support of NANA'S TAMALES! MY MOTHER -NANA 2 WOULD BE SO PROUD! COMING REAL SOON (VALENTINE'S DAY-A DAY FULL OF LOVE, SOUNDS GOOD TO ME? Hmmm? )
