The Glory Of God!!

Most of us know the story of Lazarus. Lazarus was a close friend of Jesus, as were his sisters Mary and Martha. So, when Lazarus became very ill, his sisters, Mary and Martha called for Jesus to come to heal him. They had complete Faith that Jesus could heal their brother because they believed He could.

But Jesus didn’t come right away. Jesus didn’t show up until Lazarus had already been dead for four days.

Mary and Martha were not only hurting for the loss of their brother, but were also confused. Questioning why Jesus didn’t come sooner to save their brother before he died.

Jesus already knew that Lazarus would die. He knew what He was going to do, how He was going to do it, and why. The “why” He chose is the most important part of this story. The “why” was to show the people the complete Glory of God.

There are three very important messages that Jesus conveys to us through this story.

First, we know that Jesus wept. Why you may ask would He cry over Lazarus’s death when He knew He was going to bring him back to life? Jesus wept because He felt the heartache of Mary and Martha who He loved. When we hurt Jesus hurts too. When we grieve, God grieves with us.
A reminder that our God has a big heart and His heart is touched when our hearts are hurting.

Secondly, Jesus is showing us that no matter how hopeless or desperate our situation seems to be to us that He will always show up at the perfect time for He knows what is best for us and His plan is bigger than what we can possibly imagine.

Jesus could have come immediately to heal Lazarus. He could have even healed him from afar without showing up at all. But Jesus wanted to magnify the glory of God by raising Lazarus from the dead, an even greater miracle full of God’s glory beyond healing him before he died.

Jesus is reminding us that when we truly believe, we have to be willing
To trust in God’s timing. We have to hold on to our Faith with hands of patience and a trusting heart when life circumstances seem dire and hopeless as we wait for God to reveal all of His glory to us.

Last but not least, Jesus waited to show up to show His people that God’s power is beyond what we only we can expect or imagine. As long as we don’t get discouraged and give up and as long as we keep believing in the power of God, we will eventually see and experience His glory.

John 11:40 “Then Jesus said, “Did I not tell you that if you believe, you will see the glory of God?”

If you want to see God’s glory in your life, trust His love for you, trust His timing and trust in His extraordinary power that can make all things possible❤️ (SueMarie)
