This man was an inspiration for so many people both young and old to enjoy the world of reptiles and amphibians. Godspeed to you sir. Your legacy (Legasea aquarium and the Reptarium) will be forever and always!

On behalf of the Barczyk family and our entire team at The Reptarium, it is with profound sorrow that we announce the passing of our beloved Brian Barczyk.

More than the guiding light of our organization, Brian's fervent passion for reptiles and wildlife, along with his steadfast dedication to education, has touched innumerable hearts and minds globally.

Our deepest sympathies are with Brian's family, his friends, and all those whose lives he has touched. We've lost an exceptional individual – a visionary, mentor, and friend. For those of us who had the privilege of working alongside him, Brian's absence leaves an immeasurable void.
As we navigate this difficult time, we find comfort in the memories and the lasting light of Brian's work. He will be deeply missed but indeed, never forgotten.

The Barczyk family invites you to join us for a Public Memorial Walk-through to honor Brian’s memory. The event will be held on Wednesday, January 17, 2024, at Heritage Church, located at 44625 Schoenherr Rd. Sterling Heights, MI 48313 from 1-3pm.

We are excited to introduce everyone to our newest addition to Frogtown exotics programs…some chunky Whites tree frogs! This species makes for a great pet frog as they tolerate handling unlike a lot of frogs that want to jump away from you. Ribbit ribbit 🐸🐸

Lol the moment you’re walking around admiring all the fun decorations and cheap fun gifts that parents find on the Internet. ESPECIALLY when this is the very first object I picked up on an empty random table to find a grumpy frog flipping you off 😂😂🤷‍♂️ I couldn’t help but to make a fun joke of it to them to which the mother said she just ordered a big random pack of twisty straws. This was literally the only one in the bag as we continued to search each and every straw so this is my favorite straw ever.

Happy 419 day!!! I love this city. Before we were known as the Glass City, we were “Frogtown”…and this is why we pay respect to our city’s history by representing the Frogtown name! Here’s a behind the scenes clip from our recent appearance on 13abc’s “The Nine” a few weeks ago! This is what I viewed as the show started. It was a great opportunity!

Also, I think it would be a good time to mention that we would love for you all to come see Fluffy and his slithering friends this May 18th from 6-7 pm at the Imagination Station for their showing of “Raiders of the lost ark” in their new theatre! To win some free tickets stay tuned for details….🐍

If someone murdered “Fluffy” I can’t even begin to comprehend how bad that would affect me. Fluffy is the same species of snake and was kept by the man just 1-2 years longer than I have had Fluffy. Fluffy is, was, has been, and will continue to be one of most popular animal educational ambassadors for the Frogtown Exotics family.

I wouldn’t doubt if this post only makes it to a very small number of my 2500 followers…but I have to rant and Im just going to apologize right now for this posts length!

I can’t deny that I comply with and respect all of Ohio’s exotic animal laws and the 33-34 pythons being kept at least were something the man should not have had in his possession. BUT he was doing everything imaginable to find them homes to prevent this exact instance from happening…or so he thought. But the 100% completely LEGAL gravid boa should have been way more of a concern during these 3 “professionals” python massacring. The owner told them over and over to not touch the boa!! But couldn’t stand to watch each of his animals heads being blasted to see blood pouring out of the head from each animal all over his own floor…then tossed into a garbage can as if they weren’t just alive, beautiful animals…but illegal trash.

This may be something the average person might not have known about prior to 24 hours ago with this national attention, but I believe no matter who you are, if you can not have at least some sympathy for this horrendous act being recklessly done with showing ZERO compassion or attention in the act of murdering this innocent snake then you are just as bad!! Hate snakes or not, imagine state officers showing up at your door and shooting a bolt through your dog or cats head….(then repeat it to another 30 plus of your pet animals!) it wouldn’t be anything other than pure devastation…. If you watch the entire video clip it shows officers literally posing with some of the bigger animals after each “euthanasia”. I bet the “selfies” were for the officers personal ego and private Instagram account to show how tough he is as a man of the law.

Invasive pythons were prohibited by the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission in 2021, but boa constrictors were not on that list.

Amphibian Art Contest!

Calling all K-12 students in the United States and its territories! Show us how you discovered amphibians by participating in our Amphibian Week 2023 Art Contest. We’re looking for original artwork (not computer generated) from K-12 students residing in the United States to highlight amphibian species. Art entries must be original work, must incorporate the theme ‘Discovering Amphibians,’ and must include 1-2 sentences written by the student on how they discovered amphibians. All artwork will be uploaded as a picture via a Google Form by a parent or legal guardian.

For this contest, we will have four entry categories:
Grades K-2 students
Grades 3-5 students
Grades 6-8 students
Grades 9-12 students

Winners will be eligible to receive amphibian-themed prizes. All winning entries will also be posted on the Partners in Amphibian and Reptile Conservation (PARC) website and social media pages. All contestants will be emailed a digital certificate for participating in the contest.

Here’s my baby albino Nelson’s milksnake in between meals. He took down 3 pinkie mice with ease and isn’t any bigger than 8-10” long at most. In the wild they mimic coral snakes to trick predators into thinking they’re potentially dangerous!
