I have always called Hamilton, New York home. I married my high school sweetheart and together we have one kiddo. 5 Essential Tips for Stress-Free Wedding Planning 📝
1. Actually talk with your vendors before booking them 💬 There's a lot to be said for connecting with the team that will be supporting your big day.
2. Create a wedding email address to be used just for planning 📧
3. Be flexible but make sure you and your partner are on the same page about your vision.
4. Don't underestimate how much time it takes to pull-off DIY projects 🖌️

Story time 😁 When I first started Home Town Events, I basically said I would plan anything but weddings 🤐 I think it was mostly because I was intimidated! Weddings come with a lot of stress and emotions and I was nervous to jump into that with couples.
In October of 2021, my sister was in Matt and Carrie's DIY wedding. They were getting married on their own property, and let's just say they bit off more than they could chew 😆 Carrie had visions of turning a barn into their venue but it was full of, well, things that belong in a barn! My sister asked me to help them and I fell in love with their love. They are so hard-working and down to earth; we immediately got along great. My husband is in this photo too because he was their DJ/officiant/emcee.
I say all of this to say that when you hire Home Town Events, you hire me. I am going to work my as* off to make sure your day is what you want, how you want it. If that includes finding someone to drive your guests to the ceremony site in a hay wagon, I'm doing it. 🚜
Dreaming of a perfect event without the stress? Here are 5 must-know tips:
1. The earlier you start planning the better 🖊
2. You may think hosting at your home will be cheaper, but if your crowd is anything over say, 50 people, it likely won't be 🪑
3. RSVPs are ALWAYS a good idea 📒
4. Don't gloss over the decorations or flowers. They add so much to the feel of the event and can elevate it with even the simplest designs 🪻
5. I will always recommend a DJ over plugging in a playlist 🎧

My feed has been full of ways to politely tell guests you don't want kids at your wedding. My two cents (that no one asked for): if you have children in your life that you want to celebrate with, by all means, INVITE THEM! 🚸
Kate and Adam got married last October and had their kiddos as their wedding party. This is me saying it again for those in the back: it's your day, do what you want! If you want your kids at your wedding DO IT! 🥳

We worked with Art at Hamilton CS on a contest for 3rd-5th graders to design this year's 4th of July Celebration flier. There were so many amazing designs, but the top 5 were voted on at the art show last week. After 235 votes (!!!), Lily has been named the champ 🏆

A couple of things to add to these tips:
🖊I love printed invitations. Designing custom invites is an incredible talent and provides such elegance to the vibe of your day. However, here we are in 2024 and everything is online. At the least, keeping track of RSVPs online is SO much easier to manage.
🚌Please consider your crowd when deciding on whether or not you provide transportation. If a large contingency of guests are staying at the same location, it would be very hospitable to arrange a shuttle. However, transportation is not cheap (I'm talking at least $1,500), so make sure you've budgeted for it.
🤍 Potentially unpopular opinion: people don't want a mug with your wedding date and initials on it ❌ Consider spending that favor money on something like late night snacks or fireworks; something your guests will enjoy right then.
What are your must-play songs when you're at a wedding? 🎼 What about those "hell no, do not play" songs ❌
Must play: Livin' on a Prayer (shout-out to Nazareth University class of 2009!) and got to have some of Whitney's "I Wanna Dance with Somebody" 💃
The only songs on my "do not play" list at my wedding: Rebecca Black "Friday" and "Brick House" 😶

10/10 recommend a pool party for all those winter babes! 🎂 My daughter's birthday is in February and every year since she was born, there has been a blizzard. ❄️ So this year we decided to go "tropical" without going too far. 1. Find a hotel near you (ours was only 35 minutes away) with an indoor pool. 2. Book a suite that has a separate room just for the kids. As a parent, this is K E Y 🔑 3. Get some decorations and snacks, make a cake, and head out! 4. Swim for a couple of hours, and then have @grubhub deliver pizza right to the hotel so they didn't even have to get out of the pool 🏊🏼♀️ 5. Get up in the morning for complimentary breakfast, and get in the pool one more time.
