CONGRATULATIONS WINNING BANDS!!!
Desert View HS Jaguar Band is this year's winner of the Paul Grimes Award for the best musical marching band.
Paul Grimes was a local high school band director and music adjudicator. As a Past Chairman of the Tucson Rodeo Parade Committee, he wrote a historical book about the parade and the courtyard at the Tucson Wagon and History Museum is named in honor of him.
Catalina Foothills HS Falcon Band was awarded the Bucky Steele Marching Award.
Bucky Steele directed and labeled the Tucson HS Band the Marching 100. After retiring from teaching, he became the director of the Tucson Pops Orchestra. He has a street named in honor of him in Reid Park. He was also a volunteer at the Arizona Sonora Desert Museum.
Look for both bands to perform in our 100th Anniversary Parade. Mark your calendars for February 20, 2025.
