Jo’s Cafe Creates Mobile Kitchen with a Cause

Tupelo, Mississippi – Hungry Tupelo residents looking for mouth-watering, made-from-scratch, southern-style lunch fare have a new place to go. At Jo’s Café the fusion of street food and comfort cuisine has taken homemade goodness to the next level.

You won’t find ‘diet-plate’ servings and a long wait at Jo’s Cafe. Owners Johnny Cook and Jennifer Brignac dish out man-sized, generous portions with an eclectic twist on traditional noontime favorites, including an ultra-gooey “Grown-Up Grill Cheese” sandwich with multiple cheeses, and the popular “Bacon Ring Hamburger” with a bacon-wrapped onion ring – looks like a Frisbee made of bacon – holding center stage with one, two, or three patties.

While every order is made fresh from scratch, Johnny’s culinary skills have piping hot lunch orders ready for pick-up in five to seven minutes. Orders can be placed at light-speed via text with your smart phone or through Jo’s Cafe online ordering option found on FaceBook:joscafeusa.

Serving good food, fast, is key to lunchtime success, but the owners of Jo’s Cafe are hedging their bets by adding a secret ingredient to every dish.

It’s not some exotic spice, the secret ingredient here is love. When Johnny and Jennifer are not busy feeding hungry Tupelo folks, look for them in the newspaper or the TV news serving meals to victims, volunteers, and first responders in national emergencies and disasters.

“Jo’s Cafe,” says Johnny, “is first and foremost, a faith-based relief organization. We are preparing to dole out compassion, reassuring words, and a friendly smile along with a hot meal. This 8 1/2- x 18-ft., fully equipped mobile kitchen is our first in a growing fleet of disaster relief trucks and vehicles.”

“All of us remember what it was like after Hurricane Katrina,” adds Jennifer. “Johnny and I want to do what we can to make things better for others the next time.”

After the deadly Smithville tornado in 2011, Johnny single-handedly organized funds, donations, and volunteers while cooking more than 2,100 meals for relief workers and victims.

Opening their hearts and thinking of others starts at home for Johnny and Jennifer. Their restaurant-relief organization is named after Jo Moore, Johnny’s loving aunt, and was first opened on the birthday of Jennifer’s late, food-loving father, Michael Brignac.
