A tribute to the couple recently married on Folly Beach. The famous Folly boat is now painted for them. Aric and Sam Hutchinson tied the knot on Sat., April 29. After the wedding reception, an accused drunk driver collided with the newlyweds’ low speed vehicle. Sam Hutchinson was killed. Aric was just released from the hospital. 📸: Brian Heins

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our fearless founder and leader, Melissa Corbin Williams. Melissa passed after a long, brave and private battle with cancer. She founded A Charleston Bride in 2001 and was one of the original leaders in the wedding planning industry here in the Lowcountry. In her 21 year career, she carved the path and set the standard for excellence for many others in our line of work. Numerous event professionals credit Melissa and A Charleston Bride for giving them their first opportunity in the industry.

There are truly no words to adequately describe the determination and strength that she emitted in all aspects of her life. She was so many things to so many people and each one of them more impressive than the last. She was a leader, a mentor and a friend along with the most loving wife, mother, daughter and sister. She poured 110% of herself into her career, her family and her friends. To know her, was to adore her. Her smile and laugh were infectious and she brought the most powerful energy with her into every room. Her life was far too short but it was so incredibly full. From clients and vendors that turned into lifelong friends, to the team members past and present that attribute their successes from her impact, she left a lasting imprint on everyone around her.

She demanded nothing but excellence in the best way and had the most fierce ability to bring others together, build strong relationships and make you want to be the best version of yourself. Her loss is immeasurable but, looking ahead, we are honored to carry on the legacy that she built. Her streamlined techniques and systematic approach to planning are the fundamentals that our team follows today and will continue to follow in years to come. She will forever be celebrated by us as the life of every party that we produce. She fought hard, loved hard and worked hard every single day and we will continue to do the same in her name. Get Married in Charleston

Ryan Nelson is an ordained minister in Charleston, South Carolina and its surrounding areas. Email her at [email protected]. She is ordained by the American Marriage Ministries - a non-profit, interfaith and non-denominational constitutional church that is Federally Recognized by the IRS as a 501(c)3 Public Charitable Organization. Drawing on the freedom of religion clause in the United States Constitution, AMM provides free ordination, advocacy, and training for our ministers to ensure that all people have the right to get married and to perform marriage. To date, we have ordained over 687,095 ministers across the United States who have officiated more than 250,000 wedding ceremonies.

Choosing an officiant should be as simple as finding someone that shares the couple’s values and beliefs. So, while ordination is an important step, it should not be restricted to individuals that are able to dedicate the long hours and thousands of dollars that many churches demand, especially when it comes to officiating marriages because those costs are ultimately passed on to the couple.

AMM offers an alternative. Our ordination is not contingent upon declaring your exclusive faith and devotion to us, or any other institution. If you have a good-faith intent to perform marriage and, and are committed to upholding our values in this capacity, then we gladly welcome you into our ministry.

American Marriage Ministries is an IRS Certified 501c3 non-profit, non-denominational constitutional church that was established on July 4th of 2009. We are headquartered in Washington state, have ministers across the country, and maintain corporate filings in states where required. We work closely with government offices across the country to ensure that our ministers rights to officiate weddings are recognized.
