Do you know Nón Lá earned its common name, “Vietnamese conical hat” in recognition of the hat’s distinct shape?
A common sight you will come across while traveling along Vietnam is that of local ladies donning the Nón Lá walking gracefully along the sidewalk.
From the earliest days of Vietnam’s history, Nón Lá has existed as a daily essential of people’s lives as it protects people from heat and during long periods of enduring rain. There are over 50 types of Nón Lá as different versions were made for the upper class, for children, for the army troops, for the religious monks, for different regions events, and so on.
Handed down throughout the generations, it still strongly remains a symbol of Vietnamese charm, elegance, and romance.
