Operation: Ice Rink Update: The outdoor rink is open for FREE, weather depending. We still need your help to cover the costs. The expenses this year total about $3,500 and are a new liner, the insurance policy, & 12,000 gallons of water. Any remaining funds will be used to provide equipment to skaters or go into the capital fund to help keep the rink going. If you are able to donate, we'd appreciate it! We need your help! Operation: Ice Rink Update: Thanks to you all last year was a huge success. We had over 200 groups reserve and skate on the ice over January and February 2021 for FREE. We are trying to build the outdoor rink again for this skating season and have to cover the expenses to make it free for all. The expenses this year total about $5,000 and are a new liner, the insurance policy, some excavation to extend the rink to 110 ft x 60 ft, and other miscellaneous. Any remaining funds will be used to provide equipment to skaters or go into the capital fund to help keep the rink going. If you are able to donate, we'd appreciate it! We need your help! Power Play Sports Foundation is a non-profit 501(c)3. If you can't donate, that's ok! Come skate (when it's colder)!

Special thanks thanks our new director of outdoor rink operations Chris Nethers and the crew that came together tonight to repair the boards blown down by the wind. Braces are installed and it’s just about ready to get a liner in and make ice in January.

Go play hockey with our friends in Lewis County!

Youth Hockey Registration is this Saturday, October 9th from 9:00am - 12:00noon. Registration will take place at the Lewis County Fairgrounds, enter by the bus garage, and we will be in the new storage building behind the track, near the soccer fields. Children, aged 4-14, are welcome to join the Lewis County Cobras hockey team!! Cost is $150 for the season, which includes free gear and skate use! There is a multi child discount for families. Pre-Season practices start later this month, on Saturday mornings in Pulaski. Weeknight practices (on Mondays and Thursdays) will begin in Lowville in December. Games and/or practices will continue on Saturdays. The season runs through mid-March. Come join our hockey family!! Contact us at [email protected] if you have questions.

Thank you to Trey Ledoux and the Northern New York Community Foundation!

Meet Trey Ledoux, an Immaculate Heart Central seventh grader and 2020-2021 Youth Giving Challenge winner. For Trey, “a community puts others before themselves and assists and supports those who need relief. A community enables you to get through things that you might not be able to handle alone and always makes sure you are making the right decisions.”

As a Youth Giving Challenge winner, Trey recently presented present a grant to the Power Play Sports Foundation, Watertown, a nonprofit organization he chose because it embodies his definition of community.

“They help youths who don’t have a lot of money play sports by covering registration fees and providing equipment needed to play,” he wrote in his winning essay. “In return, recipients are asked to ‘pay it forward’ by completing a community service project to set the next kids up for success. They can do things like working at a soup kitchen or something that benefits others.”

Earlier this month, Trey, joined by his parents, met with Power Play Sports Foundation Founding Directors Paul and Kristy Johnson Trimper and presented a $500 Community Spirit Youth Giving Challenge grant that will support its mission to "enable sports for all ages." The grant is supported by donors to the Friends of the Foundation Annual Community Betterment Fund, a partnership with Community Bank, N.A., and a generous gift from an anonymous donor.

Trey is one of dozens of thoughtful youths who looked inside his community to recognize an organization that strives to improve quality of life for all in the region. The 2020-2021 Giving Challenge asked students from Jefferson, Lewis, and St. Lawrence counties to explain in an essay what community means to them and to choose a nonprofit that embodies their definition of community. Trey’s essay is one of 20 chosen from 144 submissions.
