We’ve always been passionate about color and love incorporating it into our designs. While color can feel intimidating—if not used thoughtfully, it can make a design appear less polished—when done right, it transforms a design into something truly captivating and visually stunning.

For us, working with color theory in floral design is much like painting. It’s about seamlessly connecting two hues with the rich spectrum of shades and tones in between. Take the arrangements above, for instance—it effortlessly transitions from peach and coral to tangerine and crimson, all while maintaining elegance without veering into anything cliché or overly “seasonal.”
Each hue plays a role, enhancing the overall composition and balance.

Happy Friday everyone! I wanted to take a moment to introduce (or reintroduce) myself here - I’m Rory, the Owner and Creative Director at Bittersweet & Co. We are headed into our 5th wedding season next year and I’m so grateful you’re here to follow our growth and journey.

A little background about me, I started designing over 10 years ago but before that, I was attending school and training to be a midwife. While I loved and had a true passion for that incredible work, life had other plans and I was lead towards the path of helping create beautiful things to celebrate life in a different light. After living out West for about five years, I made my way back home to Northern Michigan where I’ve been ever since and have raised my three amazing boys. They are my greatest inspiration.

At the end of our 2024 season, we partnered with our dear friends and for a breathtaking fall photo shoot at Orchard Breeze Flower Farm. This picture was taken during that time and we can’t wait to share more from that session in the near future! Stay tuned here for more updates to come and our team hopes that you are able to enjoy, relax, and embrace this changing of the seasons as we shift into the slower winter months.

I’ll never get over this exquisite day! I have so much love for all the vendors who brought this to fruition. This weekend we’re back at for one of our first weddings of the season. Cheers to another crazy/beautiful/inspiring season!
