It’s wedding season and I just wanted to share something from an officiant perspective that I thought you all may find interesting!
Did you know that I get called more for ‘unofficial ceremonies’ than I do official ceremonies! What is an unofficial ceremony you might ask?
An unofficial ceremony is a private ceremony where two people commit to one another unofficially. No marriage license just common law or pledge. People who do this are:
-long term lovers (usually to a mistress)
-two or more folks swearing to be loyal
-commitment phobes(I want to be with you just not wedded)
-LGBTQ commitment pledges
-my spouse died but I don’t want to officially marry anyone else type situations
-and lastly to their relatives
Humans get creative I tell ya 🤓
