THIS right here folks is exactly why when we occasionally get asked at karaoke "well can't you just pull it up on Youtube?" Nah, no thanks.
Karaoke Bar is sued for $264,000,000 dollars for playing its karaoke from YouTube!
A Well known karaoke track production company, PartyTyme karaoke, (Sybersound records) is suing a Las Vegas Casino to the amount of $264 million dollars for using their tracks without paying licensing or subscription fees for use in its karaoke rooms.
"Individuals can enjoy Party Tyme and other karaoke content through YouTube in their own homes and at their own private events,” said Peter Haviland, counsel for Sybersound Records, in a statement.
"Commercial businesses, on the other hand, cannot exploit this content and make big profits from it without paying a fair subscription license for that commercial use.”
We're fully licensed and will keep it that way. Make sure the dj's and kj's you're hiring can provide that info too 😉
