Lots of brides (myself included), will spend tons of time on Pinterest and Google sifting through wedding websites trying to tackle their wedding solo. You may also have the help of a friend or family member, but there are so many reasons you should hire a wedding planner. Here are just a few!

Things to discuss with your photographer before booking! 📸

As soon as you decide on a date and venue, I always recommend choosing your photographer next. This is such an important part of your day. Here are a few things to chat about when you’re on the hunt for your photographer!

1. Their style. Check out their social media pages and website to get a good feel for their vibe. Do you like bold colors? Bright light? Dark tones? Every photographer has certain editing style. Make sure to keep this in mind and be sure you pick someone whose style you LOVE!

2. Do they bring a second shooter? This will usually depend on the package, but is always worth asking if it’s not specifically listed in their pricing.

3. Have they ever shot a wedding at your venue(s)? Even if they haven’t, most photographers will arrive early to scope out the venue for the best locations. Gotta get that good lighting!

4. Do they include engagement photos in your package? Again, this is usually mentioned in their pricing info!

5. Do they charge a travel fee? As is the case with most vendors, photographers often have a radius outside of which they require a travel fee. Be sure to ask if the fee covers mileage and, if needed, their hotel stay.

6. How long after the wedding will we receive our photos? A lot of photographers will give you a little sneak peek shortly after the wedding, which we love. It’s always helpful to have a good idea of when you can expect your photos so you’re on the same page.

7. You’ll also want to cover questions regarding how much you’re required to pay for your deposit, if they take payment installments, and a backup plan if anything were to happen to them/their equipment.

Let’s talk about some of the reasons booking a wedding planner will benefit you!

1. You have someone that is a certified professional in the wedding industry. I know all of the ins and outs and can guide you through when you’re overwhelmed by all of the outside opinions, Facebook, and Google searches

2. I know the best vendors to book. I have a complete list of my absolute favorite professionals in the wedding industry and can help you book them directly. Don’t spend so much time asking for help on Facebook for 100s of opinions when I can give you the best of the best in an instant.

3. I know exactly what to expect on wedding weekend and I know all the little details that need to be added to your timeline. Brides for 2023- here are some simple tips to help get you started! One of my goals for this page is to provide helpful, informative tips that can make your day and wedding planning process as enjoyable as possible! 🫶🏼

1. Book vendors early - One of the first pieces of advice I give my clients is to book your vendors early, especially if you have a vendor in mind that you absolutely have to have at your wedding. If you haven’t booked all of your vendors and still need assistance doing so, I recommend my Full Service Package. I assist with vendor selection and booking in my Full Service package, so you know you’re getting professional, 100% vetted, amazing vendors. If you’ve already booked all of your vendors but may need a little help with recommendations, my Partial Service Package would be best suited for you!

2. Keep your guest list in check - this is one of the biggest ways to save money when planning your wedding. Your guest list will affect your tables, chairs, linens, catering, etc. Try to stick to inviting the people that you can’t imagine not being there to celebrate your special day with you.

3. Get a wedding planner - If you’re reading this post, this is kind of obvious, huh? 😉 You will thank yourself for this later. We will be here for you every step of the way and will take so much off your plate during the planning process. As wedding planners, we like to join in on the planning as soon as possible so the earlier the better when booking with us. Don’t run yourself ragged doing something that should be a fun and special time in your lives.

4. Enjoy the process - there is a ton of information out there about weddings. Don’t feel like you have to follow any certain trend or have a lavish wedding if all you want is something simple and intimate. I’m a wedding planner, so naturally I’m here to give you tips and ideas for your wedding🫶🏼 One idea won’t work for everyone, and that’s okay!

COMMON WEDDING MISTAKES + How to avoid them!
✨PART 1✨

1. Facebook. Facebook can be a helpful tool for brides when they are looking for recommendations, but it’s often information overload! It’s hard to know which vendors are the best of the best when you’re being given 20 or more opinions on one post. Let me, as your planner, provide you with my preferred list of vetted vendors that I would trust with my own wedding.

2. Not checking the time of sunset. It’s so important to be aware of what time the sun sets on your wedding day before you send out invitations. You don’t want to plan a 5pm outdoor wedding in November with no first look. Your planner can help you pick the perfect time to get married. We work closely with your photographer and videographer on your timeline as they are also super helpful with this!

3. Not using Envelope Moistener. No one wants to lick dozens (even hundreds) of envelopes. And not to mention the nightmare of what could be on the envelopes that you’re licking 🫣

4. Not accounting for vendor meals. They work long hours on your wedding day so it’s a must that their meals be accounted for in your total number for catering!

Why I don’t do day-of coordinating (and what you need instead)

I often hear, “I just need someone to make sure everything runs smoothly on wedding day.” While I completely understand this, there are a few reasons why I don’t do specifically day-of coordinating (and don’t recommend this) and offer Month-of Coordination instead!

1. When you book month-of wedding coordination, I come in several months ahead of time and make a complete file for you with all of your wedding vendors. I will later use this file to send vendor timelines two weeks prior to your wedding. I am the main point of contact for wedding week, so your phone isn’t ringing nonstop!

2. I do monthly check-ins to be sure you’re on track. Just because you book month-of, doesn’t mean I’m not available to help answer questions along the way.

3. We will have worked together for months ahead of your wedding, so I know your vendors, I know your bridal party, and I know exactly how you envision your day.

4. It takes time to create the perfect wedding timeline. I know I refer to the timeline a lot, but this really is such a huge factor in making your day perfect!

5. Prior to directing your rehearsal, I always discuss lineup, special requests, song choices, ceremony preferences, etc. ahead of time to make for an easy experience for everyone.

When I arrive on the morning of your wedding, you can find me finishing setting out linens, decor, directing your vendors and coordinating setup. I’m also there to help assist your photographer and videographer, answer questions so you don’t have to, and take the burden of planning off of you, your family, and your bridal party.

Things you need to know about planning your wedding

1. You need someone that is familiar with your wedding vision and has been working with you along the way

Planning a wedding is so so much more than showing up on the day-of. There are hours of planning, timeline creation, and communication between you and your vendors leading up to your wedding day

2. Just because someone has attended a wedding, doesn’t mean they know how to organize one.

You owe it to yourself to hire, at the very minimum, a professional month-of coordinator. Don’t throw away thousands of dollars spent on your wedding by not hiring a professional to organize and make sure all of the details are taken care of!

3. Just because something is traditional, doesn’t mean you have to do it

Don’t want favors? Skip them. Programs get thrown away often. If they aren’t super important to you, skip them, too. It’s your wedding, do things your way. Allow your wedding planner to help you budget your money on the things that mean the most to you.

To do a first look or not to do a first look?

This is a common first question I ask my clients soon after we begin discussing wedding day decisions. Your first look will determine the whole timeline for your wedding day. Here are a few reasons some couples choose to do a first look, and some reasons couples choose not to!

1. A first look will enable you to have a special moment with your partner, alone before all the excitement of the ceremony and reception begin. This can also help shake off some of the pre-wedding jitters.
2. You will be able to exchange gifts and/or letters together
3. After your first look, you are able to knock out most of your pictures together, as well as with your bridal party, which saves time after the ceremony to head to your reception.

There are also some reasons why couples choose not to do a first look
1. They want to keep the tradition of the groom not seeing the bride until she walks down the aisle
2. They feel like it takes the “wow” factor out of walking down the aisle. While there may not be as much of a “surprise” factor, the wow moment is absolutely still there.

If you choose to do a first look or opt for waiting to see your partner when you walk down the aisle, it’s completely up to you. Your moment will be special either way and something you will always remember!

Still not over the most beautiful wedding or this sweet couple 🫶🏼

One of my favorite parts of the planning process is presenting the couple with a wedding timeline. A wedding day timeline is the culmination of months of hard work finally wrapped up in a pretty little package. There are 3 separate timelines that I create.

✨One is for myself & the bride (mine & Taylor’s was about 8 pages!) with every tiny little detail you could imagine. This includes notes that I refer to all day on wedding day - when to pass out vendor gratuities, an extra reminder about giving the vow books to the officiant, and all the good stuff in between.

✨One is for your family members and bridal party that I distribute at your wedding rehearsal. This one is short and sweet & is meant to ensure everyone is aware of all the important wedding day details for photos, locations, etc.

✨The third timeline is for your vendors. I create a timeline so I know exactly when each of your vendors will arrive to set up, break down, etc. I distribute these timelines 1-2 weeks prior to wedding day to make sure everyone is on the same page!

Hiring a certified wedding planner that will be there with you through it all is the best way to ensure a stress-free venue search ✨Here are some things we ask when shopping for a venue! 1️⃣ How many guests can the venue accommodate? You don’t want to choose a venue that can only accommodate 50 people with a guest list of 2002️⃣ What time can setup begin? Some venues allow you to set up the day before, while others only allow you access on the day of the wedding. It’s important to know these details so you can relay that information to your vendors! 3️⃣ Are tables, chairs, and linens included in the cost of the venue rental? If so, how many and what types are available? If you’re planning to use round tables for your guests and farm tables for your head tables, it’s important to know this early so you can plan to rent tables elsewhere. 4️⃣ Who is the contact person? Is there an on-site coordinator that will collaborate with your wedding planner? 5️⃣ Does the venue require you to use certain vendors? 6️⃣ Is there a place for the bridal party to get ready? This saves a ton of time so you don’t have to travel between a salon and the venue. 7️⃣ Who is responsible for cleaning up, and when are you required to have your things removed from the venue? Some venues allow you to clean up the next day, while others require you to have everything out that night. These are just a few of the things we ask when attending venue meetings!
