Today we started with a prayer and it was one of the shortest tournaments we have been to but was truly a blessing seeing the kids having fun and trying to qualify for state collage tournament. We took 7 kids and everyone placed in top 4 meaning they could move on . At this time 5 are moving onto state college in April and it’s going to be a eye open experience for some of them to see how the advancement works and how big the next tournament will be.

Saturday we had the County Tournament at NBC and I can say the event went very smooth. the event was a great time and we got all 9 kids several matches that day.

Hyndman Mat Club
We are starting the Hyndman Mat Club up again for this school year . The club will be open for ANY child who attends HHCS grades K through 12th .Transportation might be available through the after school program. You will have to check with the school to confirm availability and if your child is not registered for After 3 /After school you will have to take care of that as well if the child can ride the bus home . This is a great opportunity for a child who has never wrestled or for a child who has wrestled before . Wrestling has become a sport for BOYS and GIRLS and is a year-round sport for a lot of kids. If they like the sport there’s tournaments available and if anyone is interested in that we will help find those for you. This is a club there’s no fees to be a member of the club but we ask that no children come being sick or if they’re having a bad day. We do a sub sale that helps the children pay for tournaments and we try to do several tournaments a year . Any child who cannot follow the rules will be asked to leave. The days of the week that we will be having the club have not been determined at this time . We will hold practice after school when we have the school available. we want to make sure we have enough kids interested before setting up the days . If you could please fill this out and return to HHCS BY 10/3/2022 kids can register after this date as well . We have this date set so we can make sure we have enough interest.

I encourage all wrestlers to find some where to practice this summer if you don’t know where to go get ahold of me and try to keep in the best shape you possibly can . 2 more days and Caleb heads off to Nationals in Salisbury MD . If you can tell him good luck and say a prayer for him and all the kids who will be wrestling. I want thank Ron Miller of PA assassins for stepping in and helping with this adventure.

After a long day today we had two who went to State college today for MAWA qualifier and 1 qualified to advance to Salisbury MD in 2 weeks . Caleb has come a long way since he has started wrestling and I can see him improving with each match . To think it wasn’t to long ago he spent more time on his back getting pinned to now taking shots being aggressive and trying finishing his moves and not giving up . He earned a additional pin today in the 1st period to make it so he made it the next round at the end of the month.

Today we had our picnic/ banquet and all the kids had alot of fun . We’re truly blessed having so many good kids who was part of the Hyndman Mat Club this year . This picture is missing several kids who couldn’t make it . All the kids received hoodies that has the logo the kids name and on the hood it says NO EXCUSE. Wrestling family, friends and food what more can we ask for. We was truly blessed to have the church pavilion to use since the weather wasn’t the best . 3 boys went to Claysburg today for MAWA and all 3 placed and they all Qualified to move onto the next tournament in April . It takes guts to step out there and give it your best . Win or learn proud of them all .

Today was another great day of wrestling for 5 boys at Somerset Pa . Starting with Kallen he had 5 others in his bracket lost all of his matches but he came off the mat with smiles on his face each time and was positive about the outcome and he was proud of how hard he tried . Kamden also had 5 other boys in his bracket and he won 1 match lost the the other . But even tho he lost some of the other he was out calibered and tried very hard . He was very close to winning his 1st match he had until gave up a point for locking his hands and gave up back points but he didn’t get pinned that time . Cody R had 2 others in his bracket lost to both boys and he’s wrestled them both before. The 1st boy he kept his own fought hard and the 2nd match he stood up into a headlock and got pinned . Cody S had 3 others in his bracket lost all of his matches and came off the mat positive learning and ready for more . He has the heart and wants to be there just lacks skill at this point being Junior High and his 1st year hood he stuck with it and keeps growing . Caleb had to move up to junior high since they didn’t have any one his age or size at 12u 140-150lbs . He wrestled some older and more experienced kids and most was close in weight but some was a little smaller just older . He lost to 2 kids who had more experience and are solid wrestlers and he beat 2 of them getting 3rd place of 5 . He fought hard and did some things I have not seen before he’s listening little better and starting to get the jitters out of the way and going out to wrestle. Proud of them all and say a prayer for the 2 who are going to altoona tomorrow.

Hyndman Mat Club took 4 boys to Central Cambria and out of 5 brackets brought home 4 medals . Caleb R had his taste at JH 145lbs in the morning today pinned his 1st and then hit some older solid kids with more experience and got 8th out of 11 then in the afternoon he wrestled 12u 160lbs and he took 3rd place . I believe he could have had 2nd but lesson learned and hopefully meet up with mr headlock again . Cody S was in JH 110-115 he got 4th had fun and he had a good time learning . Cody R took 3rd was only 3 and he could have done better on some things and now we keep working hard to break the bad habits and move onto next tournament. Jerik M had 5 in his bracket got a honest 3rd he worked hard to win his 2 matches and he should be so proud being 1st year and only his 2nd tournament. We have some things to work on this week as we move into JO’s soon .
AS A COACH FATHER AND FRIEND IM SO PROUD OF THEM ALL!! If you see these boys at school congratulate them all and keep them motivated.
