To my earthly protector, provider, mentor, motivator, and man of God I aspire to be, Happy Father’s Day. It’s crazy to think I have survived almost 2 years without you. I never imagined I’d have to spend a day on earth without your wisdom and knowledge to lead every step I took. Today is a day to celebrate you, and remember you, as you are not here present with us to celebrate yourself. Thank you for building the soldiers in Kimberly, Emmanuel, and Myself that you have, for laying the foundation of what a Godly man that cares for his wife and kids looks like, and for being the big E that lil E needed in his life to grow up and do great things. CMHS Senior Elijah Lawson earned 2nd place in the Interview Skills competition at the Business Professionals Association (BPA) State Competition, earning him a chance to compete for the National title. Elijah will be representing Crete-Monee High School as he competes against students from across the country including Alaska, Hawaii and Puerto Rico for the National title. Good luck, Elijah! About two years ago, you sat me, my brother, and my mom down in the living room for a family meeting. You expressed to us that you had heart problems and other issues that were affecting your health. But sitting there, you told us how much you loved us, how proud you were of us, and all the things you wanted to do with us and see us do before God called you home. Well, on July 6, 2020, God called you home. I’ve been heart broken ever since. I always looked into my future, and saw you there. At my high school graduation, seeing me off to college, seeing me march in band, graduate from there, and move on to be my most successful self with you by my side. Now I have to do it all without you. But, I know that God is working. He needed you home. Now, he needs me, Eman, Kimberly, Jay, and your wife of 24 years to keep doing his will until he is ready for us. God makes no mistake. Everyday I cry because I need you, but I’ll always be ok because you always told me to trust God’s plan. This is God’s plan for my life. You spent 17 years preparing me for this. Now, I’m ready. Thank you for being the amazing father and support system any young man could ever ask for. I love you, dad. Till we meet again❤️.

Ive Been Afforded A Lot Of Opportunities As A 17 Year Old, But This One Has Definitely Been More Of A Blessing Than I Could Even Describe. I Had The Honor Of Speaking At The March For Justice And Love Of Our Neighbor, Hosted By Victory Apostolic Church In Matteson, Illinois. I Gave A Speech About My Perspective As A Young Black Man In America Today, To A Crowd Of Over A Thousand People. Various Local And State Political And Religious Leaders Were In Attendance, Including Our Governor, J.B. Pritzker. Such An Honor And A Privilege. I Pray God Continues To Bless Me, And Lead Me On A Path To Success. Now, Let Us Keep Fighting For Justice.
