Last minute trip to Worthinton didn't turn out too bad. Man Meat BBQ powered chicken led the way again. Won a couple table and the cheap brisket was scored accordingly. Wags Backwoods BBQ b&g solved some hardcore morning munchies! Next up emmettsburg!!

The Last few weeks have been challenging and the need for BBQ therapy is real. The Emmettsburg $250 challenge has been moved to the Worthington. I even slid in under $200. Final tale of the receipt…..

Emmettsburg is gonna be my 50th ish kcbs pro contest since I started in 2015. I’m drinking and feeling little froggy. I’m going to do a throw back cook, buy commodity meat, and attempt to spend less on 4 meats to cook a contest than I typically do on a goddamn gold grade brisket. Let the friggen chaos commence…..

Another Smoke In The Spring trip is in the books and it was amazing as always! The wind and the whiskey fought hard, but we came out with some hardware at a 97 team contest. Man Meat BBQ KC style & Tangy Tennessee led the way with at 14th place pork. I'll take 695’s all week even if they do only give ya a 13thoverall, especially in this field. Congrats to Burnt Trees on an amazing GC!

Finally giving up on cooking anymore in 2023, so here’s the recap. It was a damn fine year at that. Started in Mercedes, tx against 197 teams in an organization I never cooked. Damn that was fun, a 3rd place chicken and 17th overall showed those Southerners that means business!
KCBS season started in Osage city as usual and we had a solid showing. Followed that up by a couple meh cooks then decided to take a couple months off to reset the mind. Boy was that the right decision, over he next couple cooks we snagged our first RGC in Emmettsburg and followed that up with my first GC & 700 (709)in Hill City. Another Top five to follow that up in Vermillion. Royal cook was just average? But ended up top 1/3 there. Seems that the switch over to the outlaw paid off.

I've always wanted all 4 meats to average over 170 and that finally happened this year. Took my worst category last year (pork) and made it my best this year. I plan on doing that with brisket and chicken next year.

Thanks to my cooking & work homies Travis Duffy & Kevin Huber for the offseason after hours Que discussions. They definitely paid off.

Also, Thanks to Man Meat BBQ & GPC Rub Seasoning for your support this year, it was an honor to fly your banners while using your rubs. Finally home and mostly unpacked from the largest party in BBQ. Good times were had, friends were made and we turned in some solid entries. We didn't quite have the combination of skill and luck needed this weekend to make anything cool happen, but ended up 146th overall of 488 teams. Congrats to one of my OG Bbq homies. Machete Boys BBQ on winning the damn thing. Dave and I did some cool Bbq behind the scenes s**t during covid and I couldn't be happier for him and all his hard work!!! Love ya dude! Congrats to everyone else that heard their names called. I'm sure I'll forget and offend someone, so I won't list anyone.

First trip to Vermillion didn't suck! The old Outlaw ran like a dream. Man Meat BBQ & drove the day with a solid 2nd place pork finish. Brisket still rolling strong with a 5th place. That put us 5th overall out of a strong field of 28 teams. Congerts to Machete Boys BBQ with another RGC & to Shiggin & Grinnin in the GC. Slamming the door with a huge brisket win. Operator error kept the GPC Rub Seasoning led chicken and ribs from shining. Time to regroup and get ready for the world largest Bbq family reunion!!
