Happy Friday to all! I am on my way to Greenville to perform at the Farm Heritage Museum.
We are celebrating Heritage Days.

Professor Longhair has been very busy lately.
In the last 11 days, I have given eight magic/balloon presentations and had one Magical Mayhem meeting.
August is also packed. There are currently a few weekdays open for nursing homes, schools, and preschools in September.
There's also an opening on Saturday September 7th. Please book shows while slots are available. Both Professor Longhair's Magic Show and the Magical Mayhem show are also booking amazing Halloween programs for October. Please contact us to secure your spots.
What a great day at the Benld Public Library. Such a wonderful audience, we really had a good time. I am looking forward to coming back.

I just finished performing for a group of wonderful 3-year-olds and their families today. It got me to thinking about how lucky I am .
So I decided that today would be a good day to give thanks for all the blessings in my life, but particularly, because I get to entertain people almost every day.
I want to thank all of my customers for entrusting me with their families and friends when they hire me.
I appreciate all of my loyal Facebook followers, and everyone who spreads the word about Professor Longhair's Magic Show.
I want to thank all of the audiences who are so supportive, and show appreciation for the magic, balloons, and puppetry that I present to them..

Happy Saturday everyone! In the last week, I was able to take the Professor Longhair's Magic Show to several venues.
Last Saturday, I was honored to perform at the Route 66 Drive-In. It was a great evening!
This past Wednesday, I taught magic at the Make It summer program at Madison Park School.
Yesterday, I performed for the summer reading program at Carlinville Library for a packed house, and tonight, Mys Jill and I will be making balloon shapes and presenting
close - up magic for the Montgomery County Cancer Association event in Hillsboro.

I enjoyed teaching magic to the MAKE IT program today. They each learned how to make a balloon dog as well.

I had an incredible week at four senior communities performing magic, meeting old friends, and making new ones.
I was at Evergreen Senior Living , Timber Creek Village Assisted Living - Litchfield, Copper Creek Cottages Memory Care - Litchfield, IL and Oak Hill Senior Living in Waterloo.
Everybody was so welcoming, and we all had a wonderful time.
Last week was very special for me. I taught Magic Masters class three hours a day for 4 days. The classes took place at the Kaskaskia College Center in Trenton, Illinois. This was for the kids KICK program. I had five very talented students, who put everything they had into learning all about magic, up to a presentation last Thursday for their parents.
Each one of them presented an amazing set of three magic tricks, and mystified everyone in the room. I was very proud of how well they did, and I enjoyed teaching them throughout the week. This will go down as one of Professor Longhair's favorite memories.
Each student designed their own performance costume and chose a name to use as their magic moniker. They not only picked their own tricks to perform, but they each made several magic tricks during the week by hand.
Professor Longhair is excited about performing at this event! I can't wait to see you all there!

Today is Day7 of the challenge with .bsky.social & .bsky.social I messed up & lost some of the clarity w/this one-oops. The prompt is I based it on a talented friend, who has a heart of gold for the people he meets and the communities he works with.
Recently, I took my niece and daughter to the Mother Jones Museum at City Hall in Mt. Olive, Illinois.
I have always had an interest in our local history, and the Mother Jones story has been particularly intriguing to me. I was pleased and honored to see that I am a part of the permanent display at the museum.
My name is on material that mentions Professor Longhairs Medicine Show as part of a Mother Jones celebration a couple of years ago. I have always been honored to be a part of that annual celebration.
Starting on Monday, June 3rd, until Thursday June 6th, Professor Longhair will be presenting Magic Classes for 3 hours per day and ending with a grand finale magic performance presented by the students. The cost is very reasonable as this is a part of Kaskaskia Colleges summer classes for kids. It is from 30 to 45 minutes away from our area, but it will certainly be well worth it. Anyone can apply no matter where you live. Please check it out, we would love to have you join us.

I was honored to present my Balloon Art Show at the Litchfield Health and Rehab Center recently. Everybody was so welcoming and a great time was had by all.
Professor Longhair 'ran' a Magic Marathon yesterday. I presented sixteen 12 minute magic shows back to back at North Elementary School in Nokomis, Illinois yesterday.
The students were all wonderful audience members, and everybody had a great time. Thank you to all of the teachers, volunteers, and janitorial staff who helped to keep things moving along.
Magic Mouse kept the kids entertained as well, and demonstrated great stamina for a fuzzy white rodent.
Two of my favorite moms in the world. My daughter, Camille Thompson and my daughter-in-law Lindsay Thompson.
They have provided me with five awesome grandsons. They have worked to make each one a very special individual and I am proud of all of them.

Some time ago, I was asked to teach magic classes at the Kaskaskia College Education Center in Trenton, Il. A schedule and ways to sign up for the classes is shown below. Please feel free to have your second to 5th grade child join us. It will be very entertaining, educational, and fun.
This also got me thinking that I would be interested in providing individual and/or group magic classes that teach: Magic presentation, A history of magic, how to use household items to make magic tricks, how to choose, order, and master classic illusions, and how to put on a magic show.
I have a much more involved itinerary that I would be willing to share if anyone is interested. If I have enough children from one area I would present magic classes for small groups. Please contact me if you think this would work in your area or you know a child or group of children who would be interested. Once I start receiving this information I will begin looking at details on how to present this to the community.

For about 4 years, on and off, I have been performing the Mental Health Magic Presentation. I just recently performed that show for the Macoupin County Public Health Department at the Carlinville Area Hospital Health Fair. I also will be presenting small group sessions at the Pickers Market in Litchfield on Sunday May 12th at the Montgomery County Health Department stand Please read more below for details about this program.
This is a presentation that I would like to expand on. It is an entertaining, yet educational approach to discussing general concepts of good mental health care in a supportive small or large group setting.
I use illusions and a little humor to initiate conversation about mental health issues that we all may face. Among the topics discussed are Grief, Change, and Loss, Communication Skills, Perceptions of others and situations, Problem Solving Approaches, and Coping Skills.
I have been a professional mental health counselor for over 35 years and a professional magician for 25 years. Melding these two concepts together has been successful and enlightening.
This presentation would be wonderful for group homes, psychiatric hospital units, training for staff in the mental health and medical fields, schools, church groups, senior living homes, and almost any other setting that you can think of.
