Wedding Budgets are intimidating, especially as you start researching just how much a wedding and vendors can cost! Here are some factors to consider when planning your budget:
Who is contributing? If you and your partner are paying, what is a realistic amount you can each set aside leading up to the wedding day? Check in with family to see who is willing and able to give money towards wedding expenses. Keep in mind, your wedding festivities SHOULD NOT put you in debt!
How many people will you be inviting? The higher your guest count, the more money your overall wedding will cost. Outside of food and beverage expenses, you will be paying for centerpieces per table, linens per table, place settings per person, chair rentals per person, wedding favors, programs and sparklers…the list goes on! Start prioritizing your “must have” and “would like to have” lists.
List what is most important to you and your partner. Whether that is photos, food, or dancing. Make those items a priority when looking at vendors. You may be willing to spend more in those areas than in others.
Consider choosing an “off peak” date or even a weekday to get married. Venues and sometimes vendors will offer discounted pricing and specials during their off-seasons. This varies depending on where you live. In Florida, peak wedding season is during the cooler months, October - April. In northern states, peak season will be May - October. If you are flexible, consider moving from a Saturday night to a different day of the week. Many venues offer different pricing for Mondays - Thursdays. Even choosing a Friday or Sunday can potentially save you some money.
Finally, hire a wedding planner! The knowledge & connections a planner has can actually SAVE you money which may even pay for themselves in the long run!
