We canned some yummy strawberry preserves!
Thank you Irene ANZURES for sharing your mother’s recipe with me and Violet. Great memories and delicious tasting strawberry preserves!! ❤️💚
I tried two different methods with my strawberries. The first was a fresh batch of strawberries picked that morning. The second was a pick and freeze method when harvest was light (or when we just couldn’t stop eating them). There wasn’t a huge difference when using frozen although I would say that the frozen and thawed berries were much easier to mash. Just make sure when freezing to wash and dry really good before freezing.

* A little late posting. We have been crazy busy with summer harvest and Fall planting. So expect more post soon!!*

I decided to use stamps for my logos. I was trying to think of a way to cut down cost as well as utilizing items I already had. Also, stamps are so much fun, just ask Violet:)
Thank you Irene ANZURES for all the labels and stickers you have given me through out the years. They are definitely coming in handy!!

Fresh organic duck eggs for sale! $4.00 1/2 dozen.
If you have never tried duck eggs you are definitely missing out. Overall, duck eggs and chicken eggs taste similar. However, the flavor of duck eggs may be more intense than that of chicken eggs. Duck eggs tend to be 50–100% larger than chicken eggs. They also have a deep orange yolk that people often say is much richer and creamier than chicken egg yolk.
On nutritional aspect, the eggs of ducks are better than chicken eggs. Duck eggs have more magnesium, calcium, iron, vitamin B12, vitamin A, thiamin, etc. per 100 grams. They are a great source of omega 3 fatty acids, which are vital for a normal human metabolism.💚🦆🦆🦆

Fresh Chives $2.00 a bundle
I’m preparing some delicious chive butter and pesto😊
We are also collecting seeds for next years seed garden. My plan is to have a garden strictly for seed production. I’ve been collecting my seeds for years and utilizing every season, while learning and understanding what each plant needs to thrive. My goal for next year is to be able to sell and share seeds with family and friends. 💚

We have some ever bearing strawberries for sale. Only $2.00 a plant, dm me for more information!!

Strawberries have always been a fun, rewarding, and easy fruit to grow in the home garden. However, successful yields of strawberries can be dependent on which strawberries you grow. Strawberries are classified into three groups: Everbearing, Day-Neutral, or June-bearing.

I’ve always preferred ever bearing strawberries because the more you pick they more they produce. They are more sensitive to extreme heat and cold conditions. Which is why a temperate state like Michigan is perfect for them!! They seem to slow down in growth in July and August then burst back into action in September and October.

Getting started on pumpkin patch #1 🎃 in our Hugelkulter bed. We planted pumpkins in this Hugel bed last year and the results were great. Especially with all of the downpours we got last summer.
What is a Hugelkulter bed?
It really just consists of mound logs, branches, leaves, grass clippings, straw, cardboard, petroleum-free newspaper, manure, compost or whatever other biomass you have available, top with soil and plant your veggies

The advantages of a hugel bed are many, including:

The gradual decay of wood is a consistent source of long-term nutrients for the plants. A large bed might give out a constant supply of nutrients for 20 years (or even longer if you use only hardwoods). The composting wood also generates heat which should extend the growing season.

Soil aeration increases as those branches and logs break down... meaning the bed will be no till, long term.

Miss Violet was busy at work planting zinnias, sunflowers and marigolds around the big garden. She’s such a good little helper. This combination of flowers is a great way to add color to gardens. Most importantly they are great companion plants for your veggies. Companion planting in gardening and agriculture is the planting of different crops in proximity for any of a number of different reasons, including pest control, pollination, providing habitat for beneficial insects, maximizing use of space, and to otherwise increase crop productivity.

This is my one of my no till gardens, I call her The Tomato Haven. I started the garden last year designated for tomatoes, peppers and herbs. My goal for this garden was to kill all the weeds and grass instead of tilling the soil, keeping all of the rich nutrients in the soil. I simply laid out tarp and put mulch on top and added some pots (just for looks) lol, as my no till garden got to work. The last 2 pictures are of the garden today. I am so proud of the way it turned out, I just had to have the patience which is incredibly hard for me. It definitely paid off in the long run!! As I pulled the tarp off this spring, the soil was amazing.
