💡Shirley Anita Chisholm was an American politician, educator, and author. In 1968, she became the first black woman elected to the United States Congress, representing New York's 12th congressional district for seven terms from 1969 to 1983. In the 1972 United States presidential election, she became the first African-American candidate for a major party's nomination for President of the United States.

On Jan. 20, 2021, Kamala Harris, the first black woman to become Vice President, wore a purple dress in Shirley Chisholm's honor during her inauguration. We salute this amazing figure all the way from Brooklyn to Capitol Hill. We honor you and hold you up in your divine light Ms. Chisolm ! 🌟🙌🏽👩🏾‍🦱

☕️☕️🌟 Clara B. Williams was the first African-American graduate of New Mexico College of Agriculture and Mechanic Arts (now New Mexico State University), became an educator, and raised sons who became doctors.
In 1961, New Mexico State University named a street on its campus after Williams. In 1977, she was inducted into the National Education Association teachers' hall of fame. In 1980 Williams was awarded an honorary doctorate of laws degree by New Mexico State University, which also apologized for the treatment Williams was subjected to as a student. In 2005 the building of the English department was renamed Clara Belle Williams Hall. Ms. Clara we honor you and hold you up in the divine light 💡 that you are !

Maggie L. Walker was the first African American woman to charter a bank in the United States, as well as one of the first African American female bank presidents.
Maggie L. Walker High School was one of two schools for black students during racial segregation built in honor of Maggie’s contributions to the black community.
Walker achieved successes with the vision to make tangible improvements in the way of life for African Americans. Though disabled by paralysis and a wheelchair user later in life, Walker also became an example for people with disabilities. We honor and hold you up in your divine light Ms. Walker. ✨💫👩🏾‍🦱☕️☕️☕️
