Face painting should be a great experience for both the child and the artist. At events, I either post a sign or verbally tell you my rules.

1.) Must be 3 and older
2.) No runny nose /coughing
3.) No open cuts, sores, or pink eye
4.)I will not paint a child who does not want to be. painted.

It is unfortunate that negative attention has been brought to my business because a parent would not follow my rules. An autistic child was brought into my tent, kicking and screaming. One of the family members said he wants face paint, but he doesn't want it. I told her that some kids don't like it and I will not make him. The child sat in my chair and I tried to paint him. After several attempts to begin the service, I told her he was not letting me do it. I will not paint him.

If any child with or without disability gets in the chair and the refuses after attempts to start, or starting and not liking how it feels I will not paint them or let them be restrained so that I may force myself on them.

I had several children after him with and without disabilities refuse to be painted. I explained my rule, and they were refunded, and I said maybe next time. Thank you, parents who listened to their children when they said no and didn't try to force it.

Thank you, Acadiana, for supporting my small business. Please pay attention to and follow my rule signage. I hope to see you guys at my next event.

I will not face paint a child who tells me no. lf at any point, they do not want to receive face paint, we will refund your money if monies were exchanged and not continue the process. I believe in body autonomy. I will not let someone restrain a child to receive services if they told me they don't want it.
