Why do grooms wear a boutonniere? This wedding tradition came from ancient, medieval history...believe it or not.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
When medieval knights would have to go into battle, a female admirer would give the knight a token of her affection to wear into battle (like a scarf or a flower).
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
And since grooms are quite comparable to a knight of shining armor, this tradition of giving a token of your love transformed into what we know as the BOUTONNIERE.
