We’re thrilled to announce that installation of the stunning Alebrijes sculptures along the Mexicantown corridor is underway, thanks to the collaboration between the City of Detroit Planning & Development Department, The Southwest Detroit Business Association (SDBA), Mexicantown Mainstreet, and the incredibly talented artist Elton Monroy Duran@ 🎨 These vibrant works of art will bring even more cultural richness and beauty to our community.

As this project progresses, we kindly ask for your patience during the construction process. 🚜✨

🗓️ Save the Date: Be sure to mark your calendars for the official sculpture unveiling on November 1st at 10AM! It will be a celebration of art, culture, and community that you won’t want to miss.

Congress of Communities

En nuestra comunidad hispana, hay personas que, sin ser latinas, están profundamente comprometidas con nuestro bienestar y trabajan por nuestra comunidad. Este año, la comunidad nominó a Rashida Tlaib, Ber-Henda Williams, y Amanda Holiday, y finalmente eligió a Amanda Holiday como ganadora del premio **"Amiga de los Latinos"**.
Amanda ha vivido y trabajado en el suroeste de Detroit desde 2009. Es Maestra Licenciada en Trabajo Social, habla español con fluidez y es la Directora de Programas para la Primera Infancia y Programas para Padres** en el Congreso de Comunidades (CoC), donde ha sido miembro fundadora de la junta desde 2016. Además, co-lidera el Club de Bloque Livernois 2 Clark, está activa en el Banco de Tiempo Unity in Our Community, y es una orgullosa madre de dos niños que asisten a la Academia de las Américas.

In our Hispanic community, there are individuals who, without being Latino, are deeply committed to our well-being and work for our community. This year, the community nominated **Rashida Tlaib**, **Ver-Henda Williams**, and **Amanda Holiday**, and finally chose **Amanda Holiday** as the winner of the **"Friend of Latinos" Award**.
Amanda has lived and worked in Southwest Detroit since 2009. She is a **Licensed Master of Social Work**, fluent in Spanish, and serves as the **Director of Early Childhood and Parent Programs** at the **Congress of Communities (CoC)**, where she has been a founding board member since 2016. Additionally, she co-leads the **Livernois 2 Clark Block Club**, is active in the **Unity in Our Community Timebank**, and is a proud mother of two children who attend the **Academy of the Americas**.
