A year ago I stepped way out of my comfort zone and flew down to California to attend a training (aka work an actual wedding) with the *GOAT* of all Coordinators, Dee (@the.weddingcoordinators), and it was EVERYTHING. I learned, connected, celebrated, met some amazing people, and most importantly, left feeling confident and ready to take on my first wedding season!
Iâve put my own spin on things and created system my own systems, but without a doubt, thereâs not a wedding that I do where Deeâs wisdom doesnât constantly swirl around my head as Iâm working.
Thank you, Dee â¤ď¸ in this industry and so many others, people can be so quick to gatekeep the things that have made them successful, but Dee puts it all out there for her trainees and itâs absolutely amazing. Forever grateful for the opportunity â¨
Iâve been pretty MIA here lately and we have quite a few new faces so I figured itâs time to (re)introduce myself.
Howdy! Iâm Aly of AD Events Co., Walla Wallaâs Wedding Coordinator â¨
In a previous role, my colleague dubbed me the âLogistics Goddess.â I geek out over the tiny details and how they all come together in the end for a final product. I have been accused of being a âknow it allâ, but I just need to take in all the info and understand how it all works together đ¤
In 2022 I made the biggest decision of my life to go a non-traditional route to starting a family on my own. Iâm what we call a âsingle mother by choiceâ - meaning I decided to use some science to have my son without a partner. It was the best and most freeing decision Iâve ever made đ
According to the Enneagram, Iâm a â2â - The Helper. We are empathetic, supportive, and hardworking. Coupled with my wing â3â - The Achiever, you can begin to see why Iâve found the right niche to be in.
I thought I wanted to be a translator/interpreter so I majored in Spanish and International Business at a small liberal arts school in Tacoma. After an internship translating reports for a non-profit, I realized I didnât love it, but it wasnât in vain! All of this came around when I was able to mix my passion for events with my education in an Events and Marketing role at the Globalization and Localization Association, where I worked for about 5 years.
Iâm a Pisces cusp baby (Feb. 19th). Weâre dreamers, creative, emotionally intelligent, and again, empathetic - seeing a theme here?? đ
Iâve worked in a variety of roles, but almost always in some sort of service-oriented sector since I was 15 years old. Iâve ALWAYS loved events and celebrations but truly found my passion when I worked in Conference Management at WSU.
Being able to help couples realize their dream day makes me So. Dang. Happy. I canât wait to see what this season brings for all of

Hereâs the truth: If youâre hands-on with planning and love making decisions about your big day, a wedding coordinator might be exactly what youâre looking for.
While a wedding planner helps design and organize every detail from start to finish, a wedding coordinator comes in during the final stretch to ensure all your hard work and vision come to life. â¨
Think of it this way:
âď¸ You choose the vendors, the flowers, the vibe.
âď¸ We take your master plan and make sure it all runs seamlessly.
âď¸ You enjoy your day stress-free while we handle the logistics!

Like, Iâve literally never heard a good argument for NOT having an unplugged ceremonyâŚ
Reasons why asking your guests to put their devices away is a good idea:
đą They block the photographer, who you paid đ°đ°đ° for and ruin the pro pics
đą People get wrapped up in âgetting the shotâ - again, youâve already paid someone to do this - and are thus less present for your ceremony
đą Guests pics often arenât great - whether theyâre unflattering of you, reveal details you wish to remain private, whatever. And, you can bet theyâre posting them ASAP. Not allowing folks to use their devices gives you a bit more control over what is out there on your day.
What can you do instead/to discourage devices at your ceremony?
â
Have your officiant announce that theyâll have a âmedia minuteâ - a moment to capture a pic once youâre at the altar. Other than that moment, all devices should remain out away
â
Have your officiant do a group selfie/ask your photographer to take a group shot and upload it to a shared location. Out a QR code on signage or programs for attendees to download
â
Host a post-ceremony photo-op with the couple. As guests exit the ceremony to cocktail hour/reception, they can stop and take a quick pic with the couple (this one DEFINITELY requires logistics, planning, etc. that affect the entire day so be sure to adequately plan for this in advance/with your vendor team!!)

If youâre planning your wedding, you might be wondering: Do I really need a wedding coordinator if my venue already has one?
Hereâs the key: A venue coordinator works for the venueâthey focus on things like setup, staffing, and making sure their space runs smoothly. A wedding coordinator works for YOUâwe bring your entire vision to life, advocate on your behalf, and manage every detail so the day flows perfectly.
Some venue coordinators may go above and beyond and do more, but the bottom line remains: their duty is to the venue, not the couple. So, make sure youâve got a power player in YOUR corner.
