Wedding planning is full of surprises, but these tips will save you time, stress, and your day. Whether you’re deep In Pinterest boards or just starting your journey, these tips come straight from actual experience.
🤑 Splurge on the things guests actually notice:
Most guests won’t remember your linens or party favors. But they’ll rave about great food, great drinks, and killer music for years to come.
📢 Vendor referrals are your secret weapon: Your photographer knows the best florists, and your planner knows which caterers deliver consistently. Trust their recommendations—they’re gold and will save you time and ultimately, money in the long run.
✨Personalized doesn’t have to mean DIY: You don’t have to hand-make 200 favors for your wedding to feel special. Custom touches like a signature cocktail or meaningful decor can feel just as personal (without the stress).
📋 Your timeline will change—and that’s okay: No wedding day runs 100% on schedule. What matters is keeping things moving and stress-free, which is why having a coordinator is priceless.
🍴Feeding your vendors keeps them working happily: Plan meals for your vendors (like photographers and planners) during your reception. A well-fed vendor team equals better service.
☔️ Rain plans are not just for rain: Wind, extreme heat, or even unexpected bugs can derail an outdoor wedding. Make sure your backup plan works for any weather curveball.
So, you’re telling me you’re just going to hope that things magically fall into place? 😏
Even the most well-thought out plans need someone behind them to EXECUTE. Hire a coordinator so that you, my dear, can be the BRIDE/GROOM that everyone is together to celebrate.

Nicole and Zane got hitched at a site nestled in the Blue Mountains surrounded by their favorite people. Aside from the gorgeous couple, stunning venue, great music, and delicious food, this one was so very special for me. I have known Zane quite literally since he was in diapers and he and my brother have been great friends for most of their lives. Kindergarten holiday concerts, weekends spent at various sports tourneys, coming home to handprints on ceilings and cards stuck in light fixtures - all memories that ol’ Zaneroni had a hand in (both literally and figuratively 😂).
And now, as we worked together to organize their wedding, I’ve gotten to know Nicole, who couldn’t be any sweeter and it makes me so happy that these 2 found each other. They compliment one another in the most perfect ways.
Wishing the newest Mr. And Mrs. Adkins the most special life together 🤍 It was an absolute honor to be able to play a small part to help bring their big day to life.

Okay, in all honesty, I believe wedding planning timelines can be slightly problematic just due to the varied nature of wedding planning in and of itself. However, they CAN be a super useful tool, if nothing else, just to use as a sort of general checklist - you may find something you hadn’t considered yet. So, if I was about 10-12 months out, here’s what I would be working on:
Hiring a coordinator 📋 A lot of people wait to hire a coordinator, whether it’s because they initially think they can do it on their own, or they just put an emphasis on other vendors first, I HIGHLY recommend finding a GREAT coordinator early. This is because they can assist you with allllllllll the rest of the items on the planning timeline. If you find a coordinator you really vibe with right off the bat, they can help suggest some of their preferred vendors for other services with whom you’re more likely to also vibe with, cutting down on the number of vendor searches you end up of having to do.
Finalizing the vibe and creating a mood board ✨Time to comb through those Pinterest boards, saved IG Inspo, whatever. But it all together and start building a cohesive vision (or hire someone to help you do that).
Setting a budget💰You’re not going to get too far without having an idea of what you want to spend on things (you’ll learn REAL quick). Do some research, ask your coordinator, discuss things with your partner and decide how much you want to spend where.
Touring & selecting a venue (or venues)💒The venue is important to act fast on because a) it will likely be one of your biggest wedding costs and b) it will largely set the tone for the day. Dates fill up fast, often a year or two in advance, so make sure you’re able to get your dream location by starting the search early.
Building a guest list 👥 Guest list (or, rather guest count) has one of the largest impacts on the budget. It also affects your venue choice. You’ll need to have an idea of how many pe
