Meet Oscar Gutierrez, Chef Manager ✨ Oscar lights up the room when he enters, but in the most humble and helpful way. True hospitality runs through his blood. Over the years, Oscar has been leading and inspiring various teams at Corporate Chefs accounts, offering regional support as a Manager for those that need additional leadership (think covering vacations, etc.).

The impact felt by Oscar’s warm and genuine persona is so apparent now that he’s back at a single account, leading at a Cafe in Newtown, Massachusetts. Guests welcoming him back - thrilled to be able to see him and enjoy his delicious food every day. This type of special guest interaction is contagious, and we’re so grateful for the positive energy he brings to us and to our clients.

Hailing from Mexico, Oscar’s heritage is boldly represented in the flavorful foods he serves, but he knows the importance of a diverse menu, and loves making dishes to expand other guests’ culinary experiences at work as well. Oscar says, “yesterday we featured a Santa Fe Caesar Salad, tossed to order, but tomorrow we are featuring my Boss’ Pollo Loco recipe.” Oscar lovingly refers to his co-worker, Renee, as “his Boss,” noting that we are all equals — we’re all a team and all want the same outcome (which is delicious food and happy, satisfied guests).

Gracias, Oscar.
✨ Buen Provecho

Congratulations to another vibrant, important member of our team! We recently had the pleasure of awarding Danielle Buxton with the Salesperson of the Year award!

Danielle is our Dining & Events Business Development Director, helping clients see the potential and possibilities of a bringing in a phenomenal amenity.

Danielle has worked for Elior North America for 6 years, starting with Corporate Chefs right after graduating college. She’s been promoted several times on her journey, moving from a Floating Chef Manager to a Catering Director. Her deep understanding of the business is apparent, with her roots firmly tied to operational and client successes. She decided to take on a new challenge as Business Development Director and quickly succeeded bringing on new clients, contracts, and happy guests.

She already has endless positive memories with the company, as she had the pleasure of working alongside her father, Steven Buxton, recently retiring from Corporate Chefs earlier this year. Danielle says she is grateful for the “opportunity to start my career and send my dad into retirement. I fell in love with people and food because of him. He taught me how to treat people with empathy and kindness which has truly helped me be successful and build strong relationships.”

Danielle loves being surrounded by her friends and family. Her three nieces and nephew bring so much happiness into her life and she loves watching them grow. As their aunt, she will totally teach them a thing or two about empathetic hospitality 😉

Thank you, Danielle, and congratulations! We are grateful for you!

Our talented Chefs are the heart of our incredible team. We recently had the pleasure of awarding Corporate Executive Chef David Weigold with our Chef of the Year award.

Chef David joined Corporate Chefs in Massachusetts in 2010 with 20 years of high-end, high-volume culinary experience. He was named Manager of the Quarter in 2016 and promoted to Corporate Executive Chef in May 2022.

David’s strengths include training and coaching. He now works with Corporate Chefs and Constellation Culinary Group on Professional Dining menu management/development, new concept implementation, field support, purchasing compliance, and leading through demonstrating culinary excellence.

David’s involvement with our parent company is inspiring — he’s truly committed to bettering workplace processes and efficiencies. He works on Elior’s Inflation Response Team, Waste Nothing Committee, Culinary Leadership Council, Prepped Cross-Segment Packaged Food Committee, and the O365 Ambassador’s Team. He’s committed to upholding stringent safety and sanitation standards, and most importantly, he leads by example.

He was named Chef of the Year in 2003 by a former employer, and we have the pleasure of giving him this well-deserved title again for Corporate Chefs.

David is passionate about technology, researches everything prior to buying, and lives on a lake where he pursues his love of fresh water fishing. He is a lover of animals, especially his cat, as well as his incredible wife, Betty.

Thank you, Chef David, for all of your significant contributions at Corporate Chefs. We are grateful to have you leading our teams!

🎂 🥳 PLEASE ALSO JOIN US IN WISHING DAVID A HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!

Congratulations to another stellar leader! Laura Grace took home the Unsung Hero of the Year award.

Laura is a fantastic Foodservice Director for a large team in Columbia, South Carolina. She took a leap of faith and decided to move to South Carolina from Pennsylvania for this new role, and moved only 2 days before she started with Corporate Chefs on December 19, 2019. After only two weeks with Corporate Chefs, she opened the cafe she currently leads in January 2020.

One of Laura’s favorite memories is working with the Leadership group that helped flip the location from the former provider into the Corporate Chefs cafe with new brand standards.  She recalls, “the team was so talented and prepared that it seemed flawless.” Laura had the pleasure of helping her new client from the beginning— establishing their new mark on the food and beverage services that Corporate Chefs would be able to offer for their community.

Laura is a true lover of food — at home she is a gardener, incorporating healthy food into her lifestyle because she has the benefit of growing it herself, organically. She has experimented with growing all kinds of produce and is now responsibly raising and processing poultry! “Next summer I will add a flower garden, mostly so I can pick fresh flowers, but I will save some for the bees 😊” She admits that the weather in South Carolina is absolutely perfect for growing year-round, which gives her an advantage to eating seasonally and sustainably. She’s grateful and admits, “Corporate Chefs brought me to this weather,” that she can fully take advantage of.

We absolutely love Laura’s passion for agriculture and how she incorporates her love of food into her leadership role for Corporate Chefs. Her client is passionate about wellness and sustainability, and Laura’s personal values align well to help lead her team toward shared successes.

Congratulations again to Laura Grace for being named our Unsung Hero of the Year. You’re an inspiration and we’re grateful for you!

Congratulations to another inspiring leader on our Corporate Chefs team. We recently had the pleasure of awarding Executive Chef Robert Weinstein with the Superstar of the Year award.

Chef Robert leads a large team of passionate culinarians in McLean, Virginia. Starting at an aggressive account in 2018, Robert has also become an integral part of his client’s community, consistently creating healthy and innovative plant-forward menus. His involvement extends beyond their kitchens and onto the field — he joined his client’s company softball team and is lovingly known as “chef” on the ballfield.

Nominated for his forward-thinking & consistent ability to deliver innovation for our clients, Robert has a proven ability to navigate change, impart knowledge, and provide an environment that inspires others.

Earlier this year, Chef Robert helped spearhead the pilot of our Forward Food program, becoming an integral part of the success of Corporate Chefs delivering new plant-based recipes for our guests. “I try not to think about making a ‘vegetarian’ or ‘vegan’ dish,” Weinstein says. “I’m just going to develop and build the flavor profiles where the protein is tempeh or white beans.” Chef Robert has witnessed the plant-forward transformation on his client’s campus, and he’s proud to be driving positive change by innovating and offering sustainable and more wellness-focused foods.

Robert is a proud husband & father to his young daughter, Jules. When he’s not at work, Robert can be found cooking for his family and enjoying the outdoors. He is a graduate of Johnson & Wales University, who now currently resides in the D.C. area.

Thank you, Chef Robert, for your incredible teamwork, vision, and passion. We are lucky to have an inspiring leader like you and we are grateful for your culinary talents — we are thankful for you!

We recently had the pleasure of awarding another incredible leader with a Unit of the Year Award.

Suzanne Gaudrault is the General Manager and leader of an incredible team in Bar Harbor, Maine.

Suzanne started with Corporate Chefs in 2004 as a Floating Manager— assisting everyone in her region who needed help. Six months after starting, she became the leader of a small, two person account in Massachusetts. Now, Suzanne’s current account is thriving under her thoughtful leadership and attention to detail.

Some of her most fond memories with Corporate Chefs include curating special meals for her client such as Board of Director events. “I love being able to utilize my skills to create upscale food for a small group,” says Suzanne. “I remember one CEO who loved high-end cheeses. I would travel 30 miles to get his cheeses from a specialty store in Cambridge, MA. Everything was always made from scratch, including the crackers and the pasta.” It’s clear that her enthusiasm for culinary arts is equally matched by her dedication to creating welcoming and warm atmospheres.

Suzanne has two daughters, ages 10 and 13. When she’s not working, she’s devoted to them. She enjoys getting up early on the weekends and she is currently in the process of hiking all the trails in Acadia National Park! Suzanne and her older daughter are fans of indoor rock climbing and bouldering, something they do 2-3 times a week together.

It’s a pleasure having dedicated and inspiring individuals like Suzanne leading our teams, operations, and clients towards success! Thank you, Suzanne. We are grateful for you.

The heart of Corporate Chefs is our incredible team. We recently had the pleasure of awarding Mike Ciccolini the Trailblazer of the Year award.

Mike started with Corporate Chefs in June 1996 at Boott Mills — an old cotton textile Mill — in Lowell, Massachusetts as Chef Manager (🆒 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Boott_Mills)

Through growth, loyalty, and incredible leadership, Mike has lead teams for 27 years with Corporate Chefs.

Mike excels at what he does because he understands the importance of active learning when leading. One of Mike’s favorite memories is learning TTM– Teach, Train & Motivate — to help him with his staff of 50+ individuals. In the spirit of continual learning, Mike also found purchasing seminars to be extremely useful. He learned how to control costs to help his client, better manage his business, and be able to invest in other areas that were needed.

Sarah West, Director of Operations, says “Mike is a leader and trailblazer everyday! He was nominated because he leads by example and paves the way for others with programs.”

Mike is lover of fishing and a family man who spends much of his time with his daughters who are very active academically & in sports.

We are so thankful for you, Mike!

Happy World Vegan Day! We’ve noticed a delightful trend — a growing love for plant-based foods.

Our Chefs have been working behind the scenes to develop innovative, plant-based options that are crave-worthy and delicious.

🌱 The pros of increasing plant-based foods are endless:

🟢 Adopting a vegan diet can help reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Livestock farming contributes to 14.5% of global greenhouse gas emissions.

🟢 A plant-based diet requires less water and land. It takes about 2,500 gallons of water to produce 1 pound of beef, while 1 pound of wheat requires only 25 gallons.

🟢 A vegan diet can be rich in essential nutrients like fiber, vitamins, and antioxidants, and tends to be lower in calories and saturated fats.

🟢 Studies have shown that a vegan diet may reduce the risk of chronic conditions such as heart disease, diabetes, and certain cancers.

🟢 A shift towards plant-based options can foster economic opportunities in plant-based food industries and sustainable agriculture.

🟢 A vegan diet encourages the exploration of a wide variety of fruits, vegetables, grains, and legumes, contributing to a diverse and satisfying diet.

It’s essential to plan a vegan diet carefully to ensure that it includes all the necessary nutrients your body needs. We recommend consulting a healthcare or nutrition professional if you’re considering a drastic lifestyle change. Regardless, increasing your intake of plants is always a good idea!
