I read this statistic recently that 80% of musicians have to do something non musical to make ends meet every month in order to pay their bills. It was a real wake up call because I bitch about having to do things that don’t speak directly to my artistic vision for myself. DJing weddings was one of those things. I used to be so embarrassed to tell people that’s what I did to keep the lights on sometimes for fear they may not take me serious as an artist. Then I made it the Coachella stage and a lot of that changed for me. Most recently, the NYTs reached out and asked if they could do an article on me and my past work in all the spaces and how I went from doing the most weddings to making a name for myself. Well, it’s here! The cat is out the bag!! I have to give sincere thanks to Alix Strauss for hunting me down and ensuring this article made it to print. I’m forever grateful for the opportunity.
