Lemon balm hydrosol IS HERE!! What can you do with it?

Use: As a facial mist to keep skin hydrated and pH balanced. Good for mature or weathered skin. Calming effect on mood.

Benefits: Antimicrobial, antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, antiviral, hydrating; Lemon Balm (Melissa) is widely known to help stabilize mood by reducing anxiety and stress.

Directions: Hold bottle a foot away and spray generously over face and body for full coverage; apply between washing, and moisturizing. Apply to face 2-3 times daily for best results. Alternate between Lemon Balm and Lavender every few days.

Free of preservatives. Store in cool place out of direct sunlight. Use within one year.

Hydrosols are pure floral waters from steam distilled flowering herbs; transforming the botanical resilience of plants into liquid form. The final product is lightly saturated with beneficial plant compounds and a naturally light fragrance. The result is a lightly fragrant distillate with a slight nuttiness, which carries the sensory and chemical properties of the plant distilled. Hydrosols are slightly acidic, with a Ph. that ranges from 4.8-5.9, depending on your botanical material. The final product is a pure, plant derived distillate, which has light fragrance and chemical activity with a wide range of traditional uses. We like to use our hydrosols as a gentle skin toner to cleanse and help balance skin pH.

Our skin has a naturally acidic pH, creating an “acid mantle” that regulates healthy production of sweat and fatty acids. Production of these components creates a protective veil, helping your skin fight of unwanted microbes and surface contaminants. Well balanced pH keep skin alive and protecting itself. Hydrosols facilitate this organic process, keeping skin breathing as it should. It is a solution provided by nature’s chemistry, coaxed along by the farmers’ hands.

Their gentle concentration make hydrosols suitable for for daily use and frequent application is recommended for best effect. Hydrosols are best stored in a cool space, out of direct sunlight with a shelf life of 12-16 months if treated correctly.

Making pancakes for travel. I start with smashed garbanzo beans, ground flax seeds, apple sauce, honey and whole milk. Then I add my pancake mix ( I use Kodiak brand). Add more milk to make it thin enough. This tiny pan uses just over a TBSP. I've also used this in the waffle machine. No syrup required. Baby B loves them.

There was a brief period we were making herbal preparations for the farmer's market. We just didn't have the response so we stopped. However, being encouraged by the recent interest in my tallow, I've decided to go back to it. So, here is a picture of cranberries go on the dehydrating trays to make a cranberry "hot toddy" type tea.
Starting this weekend, we will have turmeric paste for sale. It is 4 oz for $5. Refills save $.50. Sample of our tea with each purchase.

Yesterday, we had our first event of the season! First Fridays in Steubenvile. Great music and great food! We have been a part of Food truck Fridays in St. Clairsville. We focus on pork products because we have our own pigs. Our sausage patties and chorizo sausage are from our own pigs and have no preservatives or chemicals added...just good old herbs and spices...and a TON of yum! Check out The Happy Chick Farm page to find us. And, just for fun....we make nifty flavors of cotton candy.
