A floating arch, a split arch or even a broken arch. Whatever it's called, I absolutely loved designing my first one this past weekend. With this also being the first event back to work after a long maternity hiatus, I was nervous, excited, and ended up having so much fun with these colors and some absolutely stunning local blooms.

Today my sister and I showed up unannounced to surprise my Grandma Elieen on her 97th birthday! Thank you so much to for the gorgeous spring flowers, especially those gorgeous mauvey rose colored ones- grandma's favorite color!

Love you so much grandma!

This year, as a part of my yearly sustainability goals, I've switched soil blocking for starting my seedlings. This method saves space, reduces plastic consumption (the black trays will be replaced by sturdy recycled plastic or fiberglass ones as they break, which is sadly inevitable- lesson learned), and best of all- health benefits to your seedlings.

That is, if you can get it right.

There's honestly a pretty steep learning curve (please tell me I'm not the only one who has struggles 🤞). Last year, I attempted some blocks and made my own fancy soil mix from scratch. It dried out too quickly and my seedlings all dedicated and perished. This year, I bought a premade mix and am fortunately doing a bit better. I'm still getting the hang of watering as well, scared of them drying out so I may be over watering a bit 😵‍💫

Still, I'm determined to get this right so I can ditch more single use plastic and hopefully teach others a few tips and tricks along the way!

It's official- I'm back from my "extended maternity hiatus" as I've been calling it and feeling so ready to get back into the swing of things!

I've just started booking in earnest for 2023 and the calendar is already starting to fill with amazing events, so don't delay and contact me today! Always exciting to meet new clients and help make their wedding floral dreams come true.

This year I've got some big business goals around sustainability, local sourcing, inclusion and workflow efficiency. I also have big goals for my cutting flower garden, including propagation and testing of a couple of new dahlia varieties that I grew last season.

The perfect summer ceremony installation pictured will always be a favorite of mine for so many reasons. I adore the color pallet and blooms used but it was also my very first large installation where I did not utilize floral foam. Since I was trained exclusively using foam, learning new techniques was of utmost importance to me. I was honestly nervous as heck the design wouldn't hold for some reason- even though I had been studying the foam free techniques for quite some time. I took the leap and I'm never going back! You can too.

My first Coseytown Bounty blooms of the season! She's an over-achiever being the third variety to bloom for me this season.

My husband said "I think this is the best dahlia you've ever grown!", suffice it to say we are both fans. Can't wait to see more of this beauty 😍. She will make an excellent bridge flower for arrangements due to all her different color tones, perfect for tying hues together.

Last Friday evening we welcomed Calvin Nicholas Finch! He decided he would come a week early so as not to miss out on the fun. It was a whirlwind of a delivery and both baby and mamma are healthy and doing wonderfully so far.

Oliver has taken to his new baby brother exceptionally well and is fond of exclaiming "baby!" every time he sees him.

Our whole family is adjusting to new sleep schedules and life as 4 instead of 3 and it feels great- albeit exhausting! I am so thankful for these beautiful boys I call family.

Grew a small patch of corn cockle (agrostemma) and I'm in love! They're so floaty and airy and cute and I simply adore their bronze freckles in the center. Definitely going to grow more next year! There's even a lovely pink version I'll have to add to the mix.

Big news! While on hiatus from event work, I'll now be at the Dexter Farmer's Market twice a month starting next Saturday, May 7th. I'll be offering dried flower wreaths and arrangements, succulents, floral resin jewelry and later in the season, specialty dahlias!

Hope to see you there!

So happy to share the news that the Finch Floral family will be adding a second baby Finch this summer 2022!

Today we had our 20 week ultrasound and found out that we are expecting another little boy! 💙💙💙

My first son, Oliver will be turning 2 next week and I'm pretty sure he has no idea what's coming 🤣. Despite that, I know that when the time comes he will be an excellent big brother.

This wedding season I've decided to take a bit of a hiatus from events to focus on family and staying healthy while pregnant. Having the privilege to do this was one of the main reasons I started my own business in the first place and I'm beyond grateful I'm able to make the choice to take this time.

So while there will likely be fewer wedding florals posted this season, you can look forward to cute kiddo content and my second season of flower farming!

This season I'm going all in on my passion- dahlias- and I can't wait for warmer temps so I can get all my new-to-me varieties in the ground. I may also venture into dahlia hybridization if time/new baby allows!

Cheers to a 2022 season filled with new adventures! What are you excited for this season?

In honor of our newest snowfall today I'm posting these equally snowy from earlier this month.

I feel like there are very few wedding venues that are equally beautiful in the dead of winter as they are during the peak of wedding season, but really fits the bill!

I loved working with this pallette and the bride's favorite flower- Juliette garden roses! Gotta love it when bride's have great taste!

Congrats Christy & Ian! I hope you loved your flowers as much as I did designing them!

Practicing before I try them out with an actual event. I was taught using exclusively foam and have had a hard time figuring out the best foam free techniques for me. Here's to

For this piece I used a
mechanic that holds water for the blooms that need it, the rest that don't are stuck into chicken wire that I wrapped around the holly chapple receptacle before using bind wire to attach to a single screw into a stud. Bam floating wall installation!

My biggest sustainability business goals right now are sourcing locally grown blooms as much as possible and going completely . I'm getting there!

Yesterday, I had the absolute pleasure of flowering for my baby sister's wedding. After having to postpone and replan her wedding several times like so many other covid brides, we were finally able to gather and celebrate safely!

I was pretty busy being the florist and matron of honor but snuck out to take a few pics of the ceremony arch. I had an absolute blast working with these bright colors.

Thank you to all the local farms that grew the beauties you see here, and the for making it so easy to get flowers! Also thank you to for letting me use their sweet hexagon arch!

Blooms from , , , , , , and special shoutout to for the stunning glads and sunflowers that really make this baby pop!

Practicing new techniques with this one! I used a floral pin frog to secure the stems (which took forever and doesn't feel too stable, but yay !). Even cut apart and wired some coral bell foliage for something unexpected.

Thanks to 's virtual studio for teaching me new wiring techniques and opening up new possibilities!

With the exception of the waxflower, everything in this arrangement is from my home garden!

So hard to believe that this tiny tuber will grow up to be one of the largest, luxurious, sought after flowers in the wedding world! Café Au Lait dahlias!

Thank you so much to for the starter kit of dahlias. I got 5 varieties and a pair of snips (which are super sharp, I already tested them out in my excitement! 😅). The tubers all arrived in excellent condition, better than any I've received this year by a LONG shot. I highly recommend them! 👌

Don't mind me- I'm just going to keep posting photos of these fab locally grown tulips from because nature is one amazing lady.

Every day they open, grow and change. They just are more beautiful as time goes on. They take on a silky almost pearlescent luster as they age. 😘😍 @ Dexter, Michigan

I added peach tones and now I love it even more!

All locally grown blooms in a arrangement. Out-of-this-world tulips from , and my own backyard! So sad to see tulip season come to a close but can't wait for the rest of this growing season.

I've always enjoyed gardening but this year I decided to in a major way. I'm starting tons of seedlings, expanding my dahlia collection, and will be buying some more perennial plants from nurseries as well. I've got a big ol' trellis for climbing plants and even a raised garden bed for a cutting garden.

So excited for what is to come! For now, I've got work to do.
