Dear Archery Fans,
Starting in November we will be having archery in Woodland Park Every Wednesday unless there is a conflict. See schedule below.
This Wednesday, Oct 2 there is archery in Woodland. No archery in Cripple Creek the next two Saturdays, Oct 5 & 12 (this is a schedule change). Oct 5 John will be attending the annual banquet & awards ceremony for the Rocky Mountain Archery Assn, and on Oct 12 & 13 he will be attending a Two Day Bare Bow Shooting and Coaching Seminar which is taught by two national/international bare bow champions! He plans to apply what he learns not only to his own shooting, but also to help improve the shooting skills of his students.
LOOKING A HEAD: The next tournament is scheduled for Wednesday, October 16 from 5:00 to 8:00 in Woodland Park (see details below). Our tournaments are small and a lot of fun, and they will help "get your feet wet" so you can go on and compete in larger tournaments. Remember, the deadline to register is one week before the tournament.

Schedule & Details for Indoor Archery Tournaments: We do "Big Deuce" Archery Tournaments at Cripple Creek Parks & Recreation in Cripple Creek (details below), and regular 600 Round Tournaments (details below) at Woodland Life Center (Nazarene Church) in Woodland Park.

Friendly Competition - All Ages - All Skill Levels. Competitors will be divided up by age groups, s*x, skill level, and type of equipment. This helps give everyone an equal chance. Also, shooting distances will vary by age (from 5 to 20 yards). The most important part of shooting in a tournament is to have fun, meet new archery people, and maybe even win an award.

*Cripple Creek "Big Deuce" style tournaments:
They are actually two tournaments in one. We shoot three rounds of 5 arrows - 6 ends each, for a total of 90 arrows on 40cm Ten Ring FITA Targets. The first two rounds will constitute a 60 arrow "600 round" tournament in itself, with classes for age groups, s*x, skill level, and type of equipment. There will be ribbons for all classes, and medallions for categories. Then, the final round is everyone competing against everyone, without classes, because the scores of the first two rounds will be used to determine everyone's handicap, and then the handicap will be used to adjust the final round score. This will level the playing field, and it is very possible for even a beginner to beat an expert shooter. Here is the agenda for the Big Deuce Tournaments:
