A lot got done today! First we burned and salted the asparagus bed and moved on to cutting down dead plants from last year. Behind the scenes we washed chicken water tubs, gave them fresh water with extra nutrients and let them snack on weeds we pulled from the garden! Finally we wrapped up the day by weeding a garden bed and washing our hands!!! The kitties were lots of help. Bring on Spring!

As I have been starting seeds and hanging out with cattle I have also gotten to reminiscing and want to say a thank you to one of the people who first inspired me to get into agriculture. My Great Grandpa Dean was the nicest guy you could meet, and breed cattle to be as kind as him. I’m honored to be related to him and am thankful for everything that my life has given me so far. My next step is teaching his practices in the classroom. Love you grandpa 💕

The best rooster a girl could ask for, he was loved by all, and my best friend. Our last chicken from our first flock, I remember the day he hatched and when we first named him Patricia in hopes he was a hen. He knew his name and came when called, he loved the garden and getting pets. He befriended one of our farm cats and everyone who met him. I’m so grateful to have had the best rooster ever and so sad to see him go. Thanks for everything Pat 💕 We’ll have a Peanut for you 🥜
