Todays the day - Our first wedding of 2024 but something even so much more as it’s one of the first big weddings in West Maui since the fires and for an amazing couple who trusted us to not pivot, to not reschedule and we are ready to bring all the joy and love today!
-
And in planning this, it inspired our word(s) for the year.
KINDNESS AND AUTHENTICITY

This entire team went above and beyond to get to this point
-The actual owners of worked for 12 hours yesterday building the tent because they’ve lots so many staff since August- and did it while recovering from the flu
- whose literal response to me to any question is “whatever you need” and he means it
- who scoured maui for the right DJ equipment, came in early to get it at his cost, and even bought his own to supplement
- who are going to flip 12 hour edits for us ( stay tuned for why!)
- who always exceeds every one of my expectations on their communication, planning and flawless banquet team. Thank you
- who had 7 rounds of edits for us
- who was likely up until 2 am last night making sure all was perfect

And many more. But people ask us all the time how to work with us. This is it. Go above and beyond. Treat each wedding not as “another wedding”. If you feel that way, it may be time for a career change.
Kindness is the mantra of our business and we look for similar people who feel the same and THAT is how magic is made at weddings.

Some moments I will remember so vividly forever, and at the top of my list is this day with at .hanaleibay . We produced the first luxury wedding ever at the newly opened and renovated, renowned property that was formerly the St. Regis Princeville and was renovated down to the foundation and built to be one of the most exquisite properties we have ever seen.
Have you had the opportunity to visit Hanalei Bay? It’s history is palpable and it FEELS magical when you stand on the edge of the cliff overlooking this iconic bay that is nestled at the base of the lush north shore mountains, dotted with hidden waterfalls.
We had 5 months to plan this incredible event in a hotel that was not open until 3 months prior to the wedding. The trust from our couple and teamwork with .starness, and a little blessing from the weather gods, is what enabled the amazing day to come to fruition.
Infinite gratitude to our entire vendor team, everyone says weddings are perfect, but this day was literally flawless.

There are so many great moments from our wedding last week, this beautiful vista is the luau grounds seems like a great place to begin. We had the ceremony, cocktail hour and reception all on the expansive lawn that overlooked Manele bay- which allowed for a relaxed, sunset filled celebration for Phoebe and Paul

Todays a big day over at the Mauna Creative offices! It’s my 10 year anniversary which feels like a huge milestone, but even more so when you work in weddings. For all our newly engaged or newly married couples- I just want to share- that marriage is amazing. I didn’t realize how much it changes things in the best way possible at the time, but it’s a new level of partnership and commitment that makes the adventure of life together that much more fun. We know there are conflicting emotions as West Maui begins to slowly open, but we can do this right if all visitors please remember to travel and visit with love, respect and understanding. Please give extra patience and gratitude. Please do not stop if the bypass and take photos of our visit Lahaina. Please know the island welcomes and appreciatedsyou, but is still grieving, so bring support and not conflict. Be part of the solution that helps Maui heal.

I’m sorry I haven’t posted- I can’t seem to put together the words to describe the heartbreak, the devastation and how we feel about all that has happened in Maui. I feel helpless being on the mainland when so many I know and love are struggling, have lost their homes and family, are grieving and recovering with no end in sight. We love Maui and the wedding community there with all our hearts and am eternally grateful for all those who accepted me with open arms years ago and allowed me to be part of this incredible community of passionate, caring, genuine, amazing people.
It’s where our heart lies and we love you eternally from a distance until we can be there permanently.
Many may not realize all the relief efforts are not the government - it is the LOCAL COMMUNITY who has shown up for eachother and continue to do so. That’s the true nature of Hawaii but they need our support. From here, I am spending all the time I can to support, spread the word, fundraise, get items donated, listen to those we love and just be there as a shoulder until we can do so in person.
1. We are starting with a portion of all new wedding bookings will be donated to the Maui Event Industry. CALLING ALL FELLOW WEDDING PROFESSIONALS TO JOIN ME! DM Me if interested!
2. The island will run out of supplies and many are without homes and necessities. A dedicated group of people have created an Amazon List that will mail items directly to Maui to .events.maui who has the trucks, staff and dedication to pass out these items to those in need. PLEASE HELP!

After an early morning “blessing” of rain from the West Maui mountains, Melissa and Spencer were married in front of their favorite people on an ocean bluff with views of the coast line down to Honolua bay. It was perfection at our favorite Maui venue with the happiest couple.

We are THRILLED to share .hanaleibay is officially open! This is truly one of the most beautiful places on earth, and no photo will do justice to the majestic landscape and history of this paradise. Once the iconic St Regis Princevillle, did a complete remodel that I was fortunate enough to hard hat tour in October. This brand truly practices their philosophy of sustainability, eco-conscious tourism and supports its local community. We are INSPIRED.

We interrupt our regularly scheduled content to highlight our adventurous friend . Almost exactly a year ago, we were floating in the ocean, as we do, and she shared her life long goal to get certified and be underwater and then in the last year she made the time to not only take the classes, the pool time, but also dive in any spare time in the significantly cold and darker CA waters, even though no one else she knew was doing this, and got in all her practice dives so she could be comfortable and safe underwater. Then this week, I had the absolute pleasure to be there for her first HI dive ever, which was a lifetime in the making. You were born to be there and I love seeing you in your element. It was not an easy year for wedding professionals so congratulations on conquering such a huge hurdle and goal! Now to plan our next dive together! And stealing .starness too 🐢

In need of some warmth and inspiration today? This video is EXCEPTIONAL- sound on and watch until the end. We are proud to partner with @chrisjevansphoto and @weslarsenmedia at the @hanamauiresort for this spectacular micro wedding on the remote north shore of Maui. If you’ve never been to Hana- well, add it to the top of your bucket list. There is literally nothing like it. The journey is half of the fun as you pass hundreds of waterfalls in the remote jungle on your travels to this private island town. There is one resort, maybe two stores, and no TVs in the rooms because when your here, who needs TVs!! The reception tent space is by the original chiefs plantation home and you can FEEL the history as you walk through. I’ve tried many times to capture its beauty in photos but nothing comes close- until I saw this video.
