Here’s a few other things that have been going on:
▪️ made some super delicious peanut butter Oreo cookies inspired by The Parent Trap (these were SO good that they are worth mentioning!)
▪️a wedding (congrats, Jenna & Nate!)
▪️working on exterior and interior signage
▪️ordering some Michigan-made goodies to stock our retail shelf
▪️attempting to build shelving and then crying (me)
▪️building shelving, tables, and chairs (thank you to my BFF Sydney!)
▪️a website!

Yes, a website! This one is my favorite bit of news because it is something I’ve wanted to have for a long time and something I’ve been editing for quite a while, but I’m excited to say there’s officially SOMETHING out there! Now the question everyone has been asking…
When is opening day?

Unfortunately I don’t have an answer to that just yet. The final and most important piece of equipment (AKA the oven) arrived damaged earlier this month and we are awaiting a replacement shipment with no confirmed timeline.

In the meantime, I am still accepting orders and baking from home! 🧁

AN AURORA FOR THE AGES

Last weekend saw a truly historic outburst of the aurora borealis, with the intensity scale reaching G5 three times, something that normally happens only 3 or 4 times every decade!! So many photographers featured in our Northern Lights category have great photos shared on their social media, but I wanted to get a pic from a place that’s normally left out of the cosmic fun!

Tom got this shot looking over Saginaw Bay on Friday night saying "I kid you not - these brilliant colors are in the Aurora as it first appeared. Minimal and normal editing of the raw files is all I did (except maybe the first image which i may have increased yellow and green saturation). As the night wore on the reds, pinks, disappeared and it was brilliant green." The Eben ice caves are a popular winter destination on the Hiawatha that have seen increasing visitation over the last couple of years, and are also in a designated Wilderness area. In order to understand visitor use and its potential impacts on the ground, staff are beginning to gather information with a voluntary registration there this season.
