Rob and Jordan got engaged on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial, cementing their love for one another in the history of so many events that took place on those same steps from Martin Luther King Jr.’s “I have a dream speech,” to the Vietnam War protests, to the inauguration of America’s first black president, Barack Obama. After the surprise proposal and Jordan said, “Yes,” everyone around them cheered just like their audience cheered at their wedding after their kiss. It was so fun sharing Rob and Jordan’s story to help make their moment memorable, and I’d love to do the same for you.

Nick and Bailey met at a party at Christopher Newport University and exchanged numbers. Just before Nick sent Bailey a message for a first date, he got nervous but finally hit send. When Bailey received the message, she was excited but nervous to respond back, not sure if she wanted to step out of her comfort zone and go on a date, but thankfully her friend Katie pushed her over the edge of her comfort and she responded back with a yes. This past week they said “Yes,” to forever with one another.

Kevin and MacKenzie met in college as lifeguards and happened to reconnect 4 years later as Kevin turned up as a potential match for MacKenzie on Hinge. They met up on a maybe date (Kevin thought it was a date. Mackenzie thought it was just a hang out though she was ready for a kiss from Kevin by the end of the night). Eventually they began dating and celebrated their love today at their wedding ceremony. I also love that Kevin and MacKenzie didn’t just invest in this day, but they invested in their relationship by opting to go through the SYMBIS assessment that I offer (in the vein of premarital counseling). While seeking to save on the ceremony, they made sure not to shortcut the moment though so they made sure to book an amazing photographer ( at 😘) and a phenomenal officiant 😉 ! All the ceremonies I officiate are meaningful and this one means even more! Skylar ( ) and Andrew are part of our church .church and they got married this past Thursday! It was an honor for me, and also a great reference as Skylar photographs a lot of weddings and sees a lot of officiants and she chose me to help make their moment memorable. A side note on their ceremony as well is even though Skylar and Andrew had an intimate laid back ceremony, and Skylar is in the wedding industry and she knows weddings, they still brought in a coordinator of to oversee all the details and ensure everything went smoothly as captured everything. For your intimate laid back casual ceremony, take a page from Skylar’s book and hire professionals to help because without them, the intimate laid back casual ceremony you envisioned can quickly become stressful, chaotic, sloppy, and less than you envisioned. This is also why my wife and I hired professionals for our 15 vow renewal 3 years ago. I’m here to help.

As time passed, their friendship morphed into more and Louis proposed with Jessica saying “yes!” through tear-filled eyes. Today I got to share their story to help make their moment memorable. Congrats to Christian and Christina as they celebrate their one year anniversary today! I was so honored to officiate for them last year at The Hermitage in Norfolk, and it’s been awesome seeing their journey as they started coming to .church and sought God which paved the path for tremendous life change! Tiffany and Eric knew each other as kids but never really talked. It wasn’t until 14 years ago that they connected with mutual friends at a bar and formed a 3 year friendship which culminated in dating just before the pandemic hit and a wedding today where Tiffany “iced” Eric just before the vows, handing him a Smirnoff which he gloriously chugged. Marysa and Allen lived on the periphery of each others lives for a long time, friends with each other’s siblings but not so much with one another other. It wasn’t until years later when Allen sent Marysa a message asking about the welfare of a dragonfly caught in a fan from a picture she posted of a dragonfly caught in a fan that they began messaging then texting then talking and forming a flourishing friendship that morphed into more and we celebrated that more on Cinco de Mayo as they got married! I loved being able to bring their story to life and would love to be able to do the same for you and the people you know who are getting married.

Shaye and DJ met in medical school in one of the most romantic places on earth - the cadaver lab. DJ thought Shaye was pretty, but surrounded by dead bodies, he couldn’t stomach the scene so he rushed out of the room, leaving Shaye to wonder, “How is this guy going to make it through medical school?” DJ did make it through along with Shaye, and eventually they made it into a dating relationship after forming a strong friendship. Their journey led to their wedding day they just celebrated and I’m so honored I was able to share their story and help make their moment memorable, just like I’d love to do for you.

Also, after the long drive to the venue, I’m grateful they invited me for some refreshments at cocktail hour before making the trek back from Richmond to VB.

Back in 2019 I started officiating weddings and just last November I officiated an elopement for Collin and Miranda while took photos. After their ceremony, Collin talked about wanting to get baptized and I sent him some videos explaining baptism. He checked them out and today he took the plunge. I traveled out to Ocean View to meet him and Miranda and we waded into the freezing cold water so he could be raised to new life! I love that I get to be a pastor and I love moments like this when a lost person is found and comes home. This is my mission and why I do what I do.

Hannah and Carl shared a special elopement in a special place at the oceanfront at 89th st. Carl said when he was adopted, is mom first brought him to this beach. Once meeting Hannah, he took her here for several dates. Yesterday, on a windy February afternoon they both said “I do” for the rest of their lives. I traveled out to Ocean View to meet him and Miranda and we waded into the freezing cold water so he could be raised to new life! I love that I get to be a pastor and I love moments like this when a lost person is found and comes home. This is my mission and why I do what I do.
