There are many new or budget oriented vendors who bid on every wedding and often leave a couple disappointed when they cancel or no-show once they realize the cost involved.

Lately there has been a large number of amateurs, (not professionals yet), who think that working in this industry would be a great side gig. In light of that fact there are increases of poor service issues, cancellations, no shows, etc. that are posted in social media.

I challenged those on my officiant team to be careful when they bid on weddings like this. It’s not fair to the couple!

The other issue is when amateurs commit to an event and then cancel when another opportunity presents itself and pays more!

I get calls weekly from new officiants in the market on how do I write a ceremony, where do I get a copy of a contract, how do I get more weddings?

I worked with two retired teachers who decided photographing weddings would be fun! They bought thousands of dollars of equipment and a book, “Photographing Weddings for Dummies”!
Needless to say it was chaotic!
