Wow, just wow! What a great Tuesday evening/Wednesday morning! I’m very happy with the response! For what I did with Kaitei Takeover!
First, I came in earlyyyyy to set up a few special things. Had to come and “set the stage” of course! (First picture is what was before, taken from the website. I took no pre-show shot 😭)
Then, we had sound delivered (already locally sourced)
Last, but definitely not least, the family came through with the decks.
From that point, we had a groovin’ night!
The Gargoyle blessed us with about 4 and a half hours of mixing! Genre to genre, tempo to tempo, they ebbed and flowed through the massive set. Spanning across things like: Deep Dub, Halftime and full time Drum and Bass, juke/footwork, and jungle. (A few others but not main influences) it was lovely! ✨🎶💃🕺
After that, as always, it became a family affair with the remaining 1.5 hours! We had surprise (even to me🤣) guest Dj’s Elusyve, Bumpadump, and Anonagon hop on and tear up the last bit of the night! Absolutely phenomenal as always!! They carried on with more funky 2-step/break-style genres! Could not have asked for a better crew to do the technical “afters” for the show!
This was a nice little “challenge” to fire off my own productions. The space is very small, and power is super scarce in the place. But I wanted to pack a punch with it being the first production event by the company! So that’s exactly what I did! (Next time, there will be even more, so long as they get power figured 🤞)
All in all, this is a super cool, intimate space for this purpose. I could see this space needing to expand, or causing “one in one out” rule often, and that’s AWESOME for them, and for the artists playing. (Don’t forget, you can always tip your Dub-Tender regardless, they enjoy having money, as opposed to not, also!)
“But Viking, how do I tip them?” Just go toss it on the table with them, I promise they won’t say no to money/small trinkets! The small guys have to start somewhere too! Plus, I think it’s a super gesture to show appreciation!
