And now to experiment with their vase life! Most of these are at the cracking bud stage just beginning to show color so I want to see

I am looking for the silver linings in the midst of a wildly weedy growing season!
And the zinnias - they have been my saving grace. Not only are they producing like crazy, and thanks to well timed watering they don’t seem to be struggling with powdery mildew like they have in years past.
And war has been declared against the weeds! We seem to be making progress but just because we seem to be winning the battle - the war has yet to be won!
I’ll keep yall posted. In the meantime? Pretty pink zinnias to enjoy 😊

we are celebrating our Sunday with Brunch and Blooms!
We’ll have a flower bar for you to build your own bouquet and a few premade bouquets too! And I won’t be alone either. MrohsGrows is bringing her blooms and bouquets and together we are gonna create a beautiful experience just for you.

These are our Millie Cochin chicks! It’s a near and dear project and I have been dreaming up and it should produce fluffy little black and white birds whose feathers look decidedly like polkadots!

Growing flowers is HARD.
It starts with the vision and the takes about a years time to bring it to life. Oftentimes 2!! And along the way there are is so much room for error.
And boy, does error happen! Forgetting to order seeds, germination issues, MICE issues, transplant issues watering challenges. The list could go on!
Alas I say all that to share flower growing is so much more then sunshine and roses. You gotta take the wins when they come and learn from the fails that arise. And grace. Did I mention grace?
Cause life happens all at the same time too and taking deep breaths thro the downer moments helps ya get back up and try again!
I gotta find joy in my little moments and this one with the little bit of strawflower that made it to blooming and the armloads of feverfew in the background? This was my happy moment that I needed this week ❤️

Much of flower growing is the planning and dreaming! Color palettes, variety and dreamy combinations! While I have some hard lessons learned this year, I am adjusting Teacup visions for the 2025 season. Cause at the end of the day I am a mama before a flower farmer and these babies dont keep! Zinnias are gonna be my best friend next year but we arent talking a few colors and a couple rows. My visions include inviting the community onto the farm, picnics, flower picking, photoshoots and buckets upon buckets of flowers just like these. Even with the dreams for next year unfolding, this year isnt over! And when I walk through the beautiful weedy mess that is our current flower field there are still tresures to unfold. How to get magical zinnais: Give them time. I think I have always over cut my zinnias. Thats what we are told right? The more you cut the more they bloom! But for my climate? It seems if I cut too often they only produce singles. The missing piece us cutting once or twice a week and giving them the chance to recover and add on the beautiful layers of ruffles. 100% worth the wait #teacupflowerco #easternshore #flowerfarm #zinnias

Our buckwheat experiment is full speed ahead! The plan is to grow it. Crimp it. And then plant zinnias right into it. We are using it like a straw to suppress weeds and also as a green manure to increase organic matter in the soil. Ya’ll. My love affair with zinnias just got alot a bit stonger. Weeks of drought. And then an onslaught of rain left so many things stuggles and being eaten up by the weeds. But not the zinnais. They are happy and content with this seasons lot we’ve been dealt. and I can pick bucketfuls when I venture out into the weed infested garden 😅
Whoever said zinnias are boring just didn’t grow enough.
