This family has been in my life for many years, and I’ve watched as it blended with another and doubled in size! For this year’s family shoot we ventured to Boulder Flower Farm, who kindly hosted us, and was in peak form. The peonies were especially glorious, as you can see. Britney and Scotty contacted me from their home state of Texas, hoping for a winter elopement in the mountains near Boulder. They found a fabulous AirBnB called the Dory Lake Chalet and scheduled for mid-March, knowing it’s the snowiest month in Colorado. What they didn’t know was that their elopement would fall at the beginning of one of the biggest snowstorms to hit that area in decades! The snow had just started when Annah and I arrived, and it didn’t stop until four feet later. Yes, I said feet 😉 Annah and I got out of there just in time, but Scotty, Britney and Britney’s sister Brooks were trapped for a little longer than they expected. Be careful what you wish for!

For Trevor and Stephany, this Chautauqua elopement was two long years in the making, and a quick two weeks in the planning! Rarely have I seen two young people so madly in love, so emotional during their ceremony, so overwhelmed with raw feelings. In this winter season, it was a lovely reminder of why I love elopements so much, and how special these moments are to capture. Thank you Trevor and Stephany for asking me to capture these images for you.

On a late summer day, my assistant George and I headed up the canyon to shoot this mysterious musician named Kal, who greeted us at his home with a lovely dinner, a warm heart and the most genuine smile. He even serenaded us with a song 🎶 first image, my favorite, by

In the few short years that my mom and dad got to spend together in Colorado, they loved to sneak away to Farow Restaurant for special date nights. It was their secret little spot together. Only once did they take me and my brother, because they wanted to keep it all to themselves. So, you can imagine how excited I was when Elorie asked me to photograph Farow owners Patrick and Lisa for The Scout Guide.
For this shoot, they did a little site visit where much of their meat is sourced. It was such a treat to play in the fields with the sheep and the hilarious pigs, and what a gorgeous piece of land. About 90% of the ingredients used by Farow come from within a 10-mile radius of the restaurant.

Eileen and Ben met at a film festival which my lovely friend Laura was attending with Eileen. Ben turned around to say hello to Laura, and was instantly smitten with Eileen, who is absolutely gorgeous, as you’ll see below! Their friendship grew into a relationship, which blossomed into a family when they added Jax the dog, and now they’ve gotten married, with Laura as their officiant! It really came full circle for me since I shot Laura’s wedding to her husband Ashton a few years ago. It was so fun to see them all and reconnect on this beautiful fall day of celebration. Cheers to many years of happiness for this beautiful couple!
I am currently capturing so many of my friends’ no-longer-babies in this senior season. Kids whom I have watched grow from baby bumps to amazing humans. They make life so much more bright with their beautiful laughter and charm. Like this shining light, Trinity. We are all going to cry when she leaves for college next year! .leblanc

Tess and Amos have been friends since childhood. The bond they have is immeasurable, and that of their families too, so it was time for them to tie the knot. They live near Boulder’s Growing Gardens and often enjoy walking through the community gardens, so they inquired about getting married there even though it’s not typically a venue, let alone a wedding venue. And Growing Gardens said yes for this special couple! The intimate wedding that resulted was centered around nature, amazing organic food, storytelling and loads of laughter. Congratulations Tess and Amos!

This clever man booked a gorgeous AirBnb up Four Mile Canyon, snuck a gorgeous engagement ring into his pocket, flew his girlfriend to Colorado, and drove up a fairly treacherous mountain road to get to this amazing location, without her ever figuring out that he was going to propose! Well done sir! It was an honor to bear witness to this special evening with them, and I hope these photos capture the essence of just how meaningful it was.

These two beautiful humans met through their older sisters, who conspired along with the mothers to make sure they ended up dating, although they were long distance. Little did they know, they’d both end up in Colorado and would be married just a few short years later! So, this wedding was definitely a family affair, with lots of relatives and babies to make us all smile. It was a drizzly spring day, which just added to the ambience at Wedgewood Boulder Creek, which was stunning as always. Emily and Kade, I hope you enjoy this sneak peek!

It’s the first day of spring, and to celebrate I thought I’d share some of my favorite mini session images from May and June of last year (it was definitely the season of babies and pets, but I also shoot high school seniors, college grads, couples, head shots).

The Boulder JCC’s annual fundraiser JFest 2023 was such a smashing success! Planned by Ricki Booker Events, this year’s party was all fun and no fundraising. The JCC took care of all of that business ahead of time so that everyone could focus on socializing and having fun. Ricki brought in the biggest disco ball I have ever seen, which made for very fun photos and serious dancing with lighting by LMD Productions. Cocktail Caravan made the most delicious cocktails. The Inventing Room Dessert Shop provided yummy snacks and Dan J wow’ed the crowd with some serious magic. I saw so many friends, clients and colleagues, it was a wonderful night for everyone! If you are looking for the kindest, most organized, full-of-light-and-laughter wedding planner in the state of Colorado, Sarah Lurie is your woman. I was THRILLED when she asked me to take her branding shots, not only because she has relationships with so many photogs and chose me, but because I knew it would be so fun. And look at the results! We rented the smaller studio at Realm very early (7:30am!) on a winter morning and the soft light was just so pretty and soft on Sarah. She brought the most fun outfits (she found the heart jeans at a thrift store!) and of course brought her giant smile as well. See more at ....

Cordelia and Scott, just engaged! These two wanted to have their engagement shoot done right away, but it was so, so cold. Cordelia’s mom had the idea to shoot at a garden and plant center, and the lovely folks at Terracotta Boulder kindly let us use our space after hours. Brilliant and absolute perfection. Courtney and Ben - childhood friends who have known each other since they were 11 and fell in love during their time in college. The sweetest! Also a reminder that: A) yes we can have a darling engagement shoot in the winter! B) posing is easy if you focus on each other and not me. That is why I don’t like to overdirect. I want you to focus on each other and pretend I’m not even there. Just like Courtney and Ben. Be happy and in love, that is all you need to be!

So of course I was thrilled, I love to shoot weddings when I have already gotten to know the families, it makes everything that much more special. These two were getting married in late fall at Black Cat Farm, which could have been a risky move weather-wise, but turned out to be the last beautiful day before the weather turned and the leaves fell, and so it seemed meant to be. Their micro-wedding was perfectly intimate, with just close family and a handful of friends, and emotional in the way that only tiny weddings can be. I think just about every person cried at some point, including me! Sarah from Delilah Events orchestrated a perfect day for them, and the farm-to-table food at Black Cat was perhaps the best wedding meal I’ve ever tasted.
This family took their look to a whole new level for their mini session, and I am in love!
