2023 Unlimited All-Stars Grand Nationals event, here we come!

03/09/2023

Well, we are now less than 2 weeks away and there are several items that I want to remind everyone of if you plan on attending the Grand Nationals this year:

1 - You must be a member prior to attending the Nationals AND must have competed in at least 1 National 1/4 point race in the last two seasons OR competed at last year's Grand Nationals. (Rule: VIII. Driver Eligibility H. 3.)

2 - Pre and post race tech inspection will be performed. For the "pre" race tech inspection, we will be checking ALL karts for safety including your helmet (SA 2015), body height, and body length, as well as nose wing height. For "post" race inspection, we will be asking the top 5 drivers to remove their cylinder heads so we can check the cylinder volume for "cc". The 6th through 10th drivers must stand by in case one of the top 5 drivers does not pass the engine tech (in the last 3 Nationals, we have not had any engine not pass tech.

3 - ALL drivers in the Sr. UAS category MUST have a Receiver (or an equal type of one-way radio) that will be used for all races. We will be performing spot checks of the radio during the day as well as making sure you have one at "pre" race tech.

4 - All drivers must have their weight declared on the front of the body.

5 - We are the guests of the Hunterstown Speedway group and we are the professionals. Please be sure to conduct yourself in that manner throughout the entire day and always remember that the kids are looking up to us and aspiring to be where we are.

6 - With the condensed event all in one day, please be sure to be checking the schedule and listening to the call. This event will be moving along quite quickly, but will also allow enough time in between races for the UAS drivers to have time to make changes ort repairs. We will be set up and starting tech immediately as gates open to try and get all the krts through in a timely fashion. PLEASE be ready to present your kart, helmut, and one-way radio so we can quickly move through every driver in an orderly fashion.

7 - Will be having a all drivers meeting and then a UAS driver's meeting after. At the completion of the meeting, we would like all the UAS drivers for the SR and JR group to gather for the group photo aas is tradition at the Nationals.

8 - If you plan on running more than one class, i.e. UAS and KT-100, please let us know so we can try to make sure you are able to race both and have time for both. Although every effort will be made to make sure that there are classes in between the classes that are most likely to have the same driver racing in, it cannot be guaranteed.

That should cover the majority of the items going into the event. However, as always, should you have a questions or concerns, please reach out to any of the Grand Nationals Committee members or PM us here to get a response.

We look forward to seeing each and everyone of the drivers, crew, and fans in Pennsylvania soon!

25/07/2023

Welcome everyone to the 2023 Unlimited All-Stars Grand Nationals update. We return to the track that set the standard for all Grand National races going forward, Hunterstown Speedway in Pennsylvania. It is only fitting that the track that is now used as the basis for all Grand National events is from the home state of the Unlimited All-Stars itself.

Ron Pritt is returning as the Race Promoter and support class Race Director. He has some exciting classes that are being added to this years Nationals including the Clyde Little Memorial KT event and a RWYB event. For any and all support related questions, please contact Ron Pritt.

Your Grand National Committee Chair, Mike Lane, will take the helm of UAS Race Director this year as well as driver communications. With other members all committed to other things, it is good to know that we can fall back on his experience and expertise in this form of racing to be the Race Director and make those decisions that no one else wants to. He is working closely with Ron Pritt to make this event the best event of the new era of Grand Nationals yet.

Shannon Halbert will again be the Jr. UAS Race Director as he heads up this group Nationally and has the best overall knowledge of that series. He will also be the Asst. Race Director for the Sr. UAS as well. Shannon will be there to assist us all in anything we need done and will make sure the Jr. UAS goes off without a hitch.

Dave Chism will be returning as our Head of Tech and make sure that every kart is ready to hit the track in a safe manner. He will be doing pre-race tech and post-race tech of the top 5 as has become traditional. If you have technical questions or want to know if your kart or equipment pass the regulations, please contact Dave early so you have time to react and to make your Grands as smooth as it can be.

Scott Bohle and Matt Greene will be working as infield corner marshals as an extra set of eyes to assist Mike in his duties. They both have Jr.’s competing for the National Championship and want to be able to have the time and focus to work on both of those.

Lastly, Gil Atkinson is going to try and make the trip but has several things going on as he approaches retirement and needs to concentrate on those. Good news is, he will be available via phone if we need to lean on his expertise.

We again welcome Dirt360Tv as the official media partner of the UAS Grand Nationals. They will be broadcasting all of practice and the time trials as a free preview before going Pay Per View for the rest of the day.

As a special treat, we will have the great Chris Williams on the microphone again this year as well. Anyone that attended last year’s Nationals will remember him as the announcer on the Dirt360Tv broadcast and the interviewer of all the drivers on the grid.

Thank you again Hunterstown Speedway for hosting our series finale. We are looking forward to your hospitality once agai...

Thank you again Hunterstown Speedway for hosting our series finale. We are looking forward to your hospitality once again.

25/12/2022

The UAS Grand National Team would like to wish everyone that follows us a Very Merry Christmas. Thank you for all of your continued support.

22/09/2022

2022 Grand Nationals are in the books. There are so many to thank that help and allow us to do this for you.

First, thank you to every person that attended the event. We are guests wherever we go and to have the post from the track that we left the facility better than when we arrived is a HUGE compliment that everyone should be proud of. That small thing has shown the respect and admiration that the UAS has for the tracks that we visit and sets a great example for anyone that follows us. So, again, thank you!

With that, we would like to thank Georgia Karting Komplex for hosting the race this year. You have a great facility, and we appreciated your hospitality all weekend. Your staff was very accommodating and willing to help in any way we needed.

Thank you Josh Warbis and the Dirt360tv crew for making the trip and broadcasting the event. It was great to see everyone watching the free preview and then tuning in to see the Nationals. We look forward to working with you again.

Thank you to all the people that sponsored the races this year. Without you, we are unable to provide awards and payouts to the class. With the lower-than-expected kart count, I must send a HUGE shoutout to Thomas Dacus with Outkast karts for supplying a large sum of money so the least amount of money paid to 20th place was $ 100.00. Hoppy Hoskinson once again contributed to the purse, as he has done the last few years as well.

Matt Green, the Carolina UAS Admin, worked his butt off to make sure this race came off as well as it did. I have asked Matt to be our new head of sponsorship as he has made some excellent relationships this year that want to help going forward. On that note, anyone that wants to help with sponsorship in any way. Please contact Matt.

Shout out to Scott Bohle and Shannon Halbert for making the trip and really taking the bull by the horns to run the show this year. Being the Race Director is the toughest job we have, and you both stepped up and worked excellent together.

Thank you to Mike Lane for stepping up and taking care of pre/post-race tech, with the help of Mark Bergfelt on motor measurement, as Dave Chism had some personal things that prevented him from making the trip. Mike was also on the one-way radio this year that several drivers stated was a big help. One-way radios are used for the safety of all the drivers as well as line up changes, so to hear from drivers that they appreciated the radios makes us feel good about asking the drivers to use them.

For anyone that has not heard, congratulations to Evan Seay on winning the Grand Nationals AND the National Championship. Evan becomes only the 2nd person to win 2 Championships in the UAS.

Congratulations are also in store for Ally Young. This young lady drove her way to the Grand National win in the Jr. UAS class AND took the National Championship. She was driving out of the Thomas Dacus/Outkast Kart stable and is a driver to watch. Her dad was telling me that she aspires to be a Sr. UAS champ, so be on the lookout for her in the near future.

Thank you also has to go out to Terry Bridges and Jeff "Loader" Eden for their recap and interview on the NWRR/Motorsports Monday podcast. We appreciate the candor and information.

We now can turn our attention to the 2023 race in Hunterstown, PA, a very cool banked oval that is very fast. This is a repeat track as the Nationals were there in 2018, the last time Evan Seay was the Champion.

One last note, we are looking for tracks to host the Nationals after 2023. If you are affiliated with a track that you think would be a good candidate, please let us know. We can help you get the application filled out and be considered.

17/09/2022

Less than a week away now. Safe travels to all of our fans, supporters, drivers, crews, staff, and any others that are making the trip.

We are looking forward to seeing and meeting you all. If you have any questions, don't hesitate to contact us.

29/08/2022

We are less than 3 weeks away now to the 2022 Unlimited All-Stars Grand Nationals event at GKK.

Now is a great time to review the rules and make sure your kart and safety gear meets the requirements so you won't be scrambling to make changes or borrow gear.

Also a great time to make sure your one way radio is working and ready to go.

Remember that doing well and even winning happens in the garage before the event even takes place.

This is going to be an epic event and we want to make sure we all are safe and have the best time we can.

See you all soon!

31/07/2022

There have been some questions, confusion, and misunderstanding regarding the Raceceiver. The Raceciever, or an equivalent one way receiver, IS required for ALL Grand National events. Our tech expert, Dave Chism, will be asking to see them at tech AND prior to the A-Main start.

So, please plan ahead and have your radio with you and be ready to show it at tech.

Please do not come to the Nationals and say "I didn't know?". It will not be an acceptable excuse.

Be sure to pass this information onto all drivers that are, or are planning, on attending this year's event.

Had a few questions about/what the one way communication raceceiver is, that is
required for the racers at the 2020 Grand Nationals.
These are receivers for one way communications, & instructions from the race director, concerning line up positions after a caution, or warning of wreck/yellow flag, or other information, all in real time audio directly to your earbud to make the race & show go safely, & smoothly.

These can be purchased from several karting-
to car racing businesses &/or purchased off the internet, with a simple google search of—
Raceceiver.

Picture for examples.

Thx.

Halbert will be the Asst. Sr race director and the head Jr. race director.

We also have a schedule created (as always, that is subject to change) for the event. The first pic is for Friday, 09/16 and he second pic is for Saturday, 09/17.

Get those 1/4 point races in now so you can be prepared to go at the Nationals. See you all in September!

28/05/2022

Now that most of the UAS regions have started their seasons, we feel it is important to remind everyone of a new rule for 2022.

Per rule VIII. Driver Eligibility, H. Membership:

3. Drivers entering a UAS grand National event must be UAS members. All drivers that enter the Grand Nationals must have competed in 1 National 1/4 point race and/or a Grand National race in the current or prior 1 season. For example, to compete in the 2022 Nationals, a driver must have completed in a National 1/4 point event in 2021 or 2022 OR have competed at the 2021 Grand National Event.

If you have competed in in a National 1/4 point event and are a registered driver, then we will have your proof assuming all regional Admins submit their points as necessary to Jeff.

If you competed at any National 1/4 point event during these times, then you will need to provide proof of you being in the event and you must be registered in the current season.

We will have more information to come as gear up for the summer season and get closer to the event.

Any questions. as always, we are available to help, but you should first contact your regional Admin.

Race on to GKK, 2022.

Unlimited All-Stars Grand National

Mission Statement: The Grand Nationals committee will, to the best of their ability, ensure that the rules and regulations of the Unlimited All-Stars open karting organization, created by Mark Bergfelt, are upheld and abided by all registered drivers and track officials, for every Grand National event, regardless of its location.
