“To love flowers is to revere nature, and to revere nature is to honor seasons. Seasonal flowers have an unmatched vitality and character, an of-the-moment insouciance that even the most opulent imported blooms lack. They offer crooked, whimsical stems; unique colors; nuanced variegation; and unusual varieties—they are often fresher and a better value, too.”
~Amy Merrick from her book On Flowers

Valentine’s Day is a tricky time to be a farmer-florist in Buffalo, NY, who insists on using only locally grown blooms. (Can we start a campaign to move Valentine’s Day to June already!?)
But I’m here to remind you that there is nothing more romantic than saying, “I love you and I love the earth!” by supporting locally grown flowers. A fresh flower subscription is a weekly reminder of the ever-changing beauty of the seasons — an embrace of what is here, in this place on earth, in this moment.

Dried flowers can be just as stunning as fresh and last all year long! So, if you’re still looking for something for your Valentine, hop on over to my shop. (Or if you think your loved one might still be looking for something for you, just send them this post with a wink!)

I’ve worked hard to put together a beautiful selection of offerings that will meet all your floral needs. 🗡️🥀🏵️💐

I am in love with every ingredient in this wreath! 💙Some of them are perennials that I have been working years to establish, like Sea lavender, Sea Holly, while others, like the Sea Oats are more than abundant. The dark blue Lisianthus almost look like blue roses (which, by the way, don’t exist in nature!). The Silver Dollar plant and tiny Ammobium (white daisies) shimmer like ice on a sunny day, while Lamb’s Ear and poppy seed heads bring in a beautiful textural contrast, almost like snow. ❄️🧊🥶💙🌨️☁️

In the midst of the turmoil our country is facing, I hold onto the belief that God stands with the oppressed and will ultimately bring the oppressors to justice. But that doesn’t mean I can simply stand by.
I’m selling this wreath and donating 100% of the proceeds to support Jericho Road Global. Whether it’s providing healthcare and housing for asylum seekers and immigrants in Buffalo or delivering medical care to underserved communities around the world, Jericho Road is doing vital work to uplift the oppressed and fight for justice.
I hope that whoever ends up with this wreath finds it a symbol of hope.

“…And every sad seduction and every clever lie
Every word that woos and wounds the pilgrim, children of the sky
The King of love will break them by and by….
If a thief had come to plunder when the children were alone
If he ravaged every daughter and murdered every son
Would not their Father see this? Would not His anger burn?
Would He not repay the tyrant in the day of His return?
Await, await the day of His return
‘Cause He will rise up in the end
He will rise up in the end
I know you need a Savior
He’s patient in His anger
But He will rise up in the end

“Bright, contrasting colors” was the directive for this custom vase arrangement. You can almost feel the July sunshine when you’re looking at it. 🌞
If you are looking for a wreath, bouquet, or vase arrangement, please 👏tell👏 me👏 what 👏you 👏want.
I love making a custom order! If you need something for a certain spot in your home, tell me what you’re looking for! You can always look through my old posts to see what colors are available for dried flowers. Sure, there’s a chance I might not have the exact same ingredients that I did three years ago, but if you tell me the vibe you’re looking for I can probably make something similar!

I stood out in the cold for entirely too long, trying to get the perfect picture of this wreath. 🥶❄️💨 Good news is it held up great in the wind!

I’m not sure which I’m more obsessed with, the orange slices, the milkw**d pods, the mushrooms, or the rich pops of coral and red strawflower. 🥀🍊🥀🌾🥀🍄‍🟫🥀

Edit: Sold! Spicy Orange wreath=$65 +tax (18 inch hoop)
Edit: sold!: Smaller version = $30+tax (roughly 10 in. Diameter grapevine base)

I’ve had this wreath in mind for a long time. Sometimes when I don’t have much of an ingredient, (such as the blue globe thistle and the yellow Billy balls) I feel scared to use it. Then I end up hoarding it for a couple years. So I decided to go for it today- and create the wreath I’ve been dreaming about, inspired by a sunny winter sky.

Throwback to one of my all-time favorite dried bouquets (from 2022)! 🌾✨ I’ve had a few requests for dried bouquets this week, and I realized I didn’t have an easy way for you to order them on my website—so I fixed that! 🎉
Now you can choose from three options:💐 $25💐 $50💐 $75
(The first photo shows the $75 size, the second is $50, and the third is $25.) Head to my website to grab yours! *Photos are shown to represent the size of different bouquets available. Due to the varying nature of dried flowers, no two dried bouquets will look exactly the same-substitutions may be made with similar flowers to maintain style and quality!

It’s that time of year when my brain starts spinning! 🌸 How can I create a constantly evolving mix of flowers for my subscribers? How do I plan for perfect seasonal color palettes? Luckily, working with perennials and native plants gives me a head start. I know when to expect daffodils in pale yellow and white, deep purple baptisia, golden yarrow, fuchsia bee balm, and glowing orange butterfly w**d.

But the real challenge (and fun!) comes with picking the right annuals. How many basil varieties can I squeeze in this year? Should I try new zinnia colors, or stick with my go-to faves? And how many dahlia tubers can I justify? It’s time to dive into seed catalogs, scour flower farmer forums, and start building carts with at least five different seed companies. Over the next couple of weeks, I’ll refine, compare, and probably pare down my list before locking in my 2025 crop plan. 👩‍🌾📚🌻🙇🏼‍♀️👩‍💻

SOoooo, I haven’t said anything about this project because I almost can’t believe it’s real! Now that there is a structure, it finally feels like it is going to happen. For years we have been trying figure out how to have a space for me to work on flowers that isn’t our dining room. My son is highly allergic to pollen and is miserable when I’m arranging flowers. And my husband is, well, allergic to chaos and mess! He has been very patient through the years, but it was time! For a while we thought we could add onto hour house, but that fell through. Now we are building a studio in our backyard so I can finally have my own space! I cannot wait to have a dedicated space all of my own and design it just the way that I want! 🙂 I’ll post as we make progress, but in a perfect world, this should be done by the end of the year!

Prepping for tonight’s class! Sometimes I’ve been working with flowers so long that I forget how to explain the process. I like to do a practice run before I teach a class and take notes on all the tips and tricks I want to share.
