UPDATE 12:30 pm MST I-94 will re-open from Dickinson, ND to Jamestown,ND at 12:30pm MST. Keep in mind that we are currently in a blizzard warning and conditions on many of the roads are still very dangerous with a lot of ice and reduced visibility from blowing snow. If you don’t need to travel please stay home and stay safe.

Next group of deserving inductees:

Joe Muller

Joseph was a true American soldier. He placed flags on all veteran graves in the Glen Ullin area on Memorial Day and proudly raised the American flag in Glen Ullin for 45 years. Joseph enjoyed playing horseshoes, playing baseball at Haymarsh in his younger years, watching baseball and cutting the grass at Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery. Joe was in charge of the Glen Ullin School Americanism, Veteran’s Day and Memorial Day programs for many years. He was a member of the American Legion, VFW, Lions Club, Knights of Columbus Knights 4th Degree, and 40/8.

Duwayne Kinnischtzke

Duwayne was extremely community minded and worked tirelessly supporting the community of Glen Ullin. He served as the City Auditor for Glen Ullin, Glen Ullin Park Board, Glen Ullin Fire Dept. , Glen Ullin Fire District representative, Life time member of the North Dakota Firemen?s Assn. , Glen Ullin Bowling Assn. , Crossroads Golf Assn. Secretary, Glen Ullin Lions, Glen Ullin Airport Authority, was an EMT instructor/coordinator, and a past president of Theta Chi Fraternity while he was in college.

SHELTER NEARLY COMPLETE

The construction project of building a new shelter for events at Crossroads Golf Course is nearly complete!

The new shelter will provide cover from the elements for over 200 people with seating for over that as well.

Doors on the shelter can be opened or closed based on the elements and the shelter will guarantee that all events can go on as planned without the worries of incoming weather!

The grand opening of the shelter will be held in conjunction with Hall of Fame Weekend!!

Wilhelm, Gerving, Gerving to Hall of Fame

Our first 3 members of this years Hall of Fame classe to be featured are Corey Wilhelm, Kevin Gerving, and Chris Gerving.

Kevin Gerving - Kevin was a member of the 1983 District Legion Baseball Champions, 1984 State Basketball team, chosen All State in Basketball, and a Mr Basketball Finalist. Kevin went on to play college Basketball at UND Williston and Dickinson State. Kevin and his wife Dana currently reside in Glen Ullin.

Corey Wilhelm - Corey was a member of the 1987 State Basketball team, chosen All State in Basketball, All Region in Football. Corey went on to play college basketball at UMary, where he still ranks among the all time leaders in several categories. Corey and his wife Gina currently reside in Bismarck.

Chris Gerving - Chris was chosen all state 2 consecutive years in Basketball, also was a state finalist in track and field. Chris went on to play college basketball at Bismarck State. Chris and his wife Val currently reside in Bismarck.

These 3 great athletes will join the rest of the 2021 class for enshrinement into the Glen Ullin Hall of Fame the weekend of June 25-26! Tickets are available for the weekend NOW!!!

In its 3rd year, the 2020 Glen Ullin Community Hall of Fame had more nominations than ever to vote on. Over 70 names and groups have now been been nominated for the Hall of Fame. All names and groups that have been nominated will remain on the ballot for upcoming years votes, we thank all of you that have taken the time to submit a nomination!
The committee met again this past week and the 2020 Glen Ullin Community Hall of Fame Class has been chosen! Below are brief snapshots at each of the 2020 Class Members. Upcoming issues of the Glen Ullin Times will showcase each of the new members.

COMMUNITY
Duwayne Kinnischtzke:

City Auditor, Lions Club, Park Board secretary, Airport Authority, GU Fire Department, GU Fire District, GU Ambulance Crew Member and first aid trainer, Crossroads Golf Board, Rattler Booster Club..... among other city and community groups he was an important part of starting or serving on.

Joe Muller:

Joe was an active member of American Legion, Lions Club, KC Club and most notably spent years providing the Americanism program yearly to students at Glen Ullin Public Schools.

GROUPS and ORGANIZATIONS:

Glen Ullin American Legion:

years of dedicated service to the community, including over 30 years of maintaining summer youth recreation programs.

GUPPIES:

Formed to promote the community, have since worked with multiple groups on community service projects, and other events to help improve and promote Glen Ullin.

INDIVIDUAL:

Chris Gerving: 2 Time all state Basketball player, state track finalist

Corey Wilhelm: 2 Time all state Basketball, multiple time all region football

Kevin Gerving: All State Basketball, Runner Up for Mr Basketball award, 2 Time All Region Junior College Basketball

The 2019 Glen Ullin Community Hall Of Fame is in the books!

Over 300 people attended the Saturday event including 65 golfers. Friday night saw over 100 people in attendance including 32 for the first ever Co****le Tournament......

Excluding the storm that moved through, the event was again fantastic and continues to grow each year!

We hope that each year more and more of you will spread the word that this is an event for everyone to plan and make a homecoming trip! It is our hope that the future reunions look at becoming a part of the event as the classes of ‘67 and ‘69 did this year.

The amount of volunteer hours that goes into putting this event on and the committee continues to amaze with the amount of work they accomplish with a small crew of people.
