Jeanne Akua Afriyie Williams, also known as OJ, is the founder of OJeanne, a fashion brand based in Tema, 🇬🇭Ghana. OJ’s passion for fashion and design led her to pursue a Pattern Design and Dressmaking certificate from Ranche House College in Harare, Zimbabwe🇿🇼. She further honed her skills by obtaining a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Fashion Design with honors from The Savannah College of Art and Design in Georgia.🇺🇸
OJ’s journey in the fashion industry began in Los Angeles🇺🇸, where she worked as a visual merchandiser and stylist assistant at Decadestwo consignment store from 2002 to 2003. Her talent and dedication caught the attention of numerous prominent 🌍 global African brands, and she subsequently became a tutor, mentor, and consultant for these brands.
In 2012, OJ established WOMEN EVERYWHERE PROJECTS, a Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative aimed at providing training and rehabilitation opportunities for underprivileged women in Ghana🇬🇭. This initiative reflects OJ’s commitment to empowering and uplifting women in her community.
With the opening of her first retail space in Alexandria, Virginia🇺🇸, OJeanne has become a strong advocate for young creatives and female entrepreneurs within the African diaspora community. OJeanne’s contemporary designs beautifully blend vibrant African textiles with cultural artistry, celebrating heritage and fostering a stronger connection between the diaspora and Africa.
OJ’s work with OJeanne showcases her unwavering passion for fashion, her dedication to empowering women, and her desire to strengthen the bonds between different communities. Her unique designs and commitment to social impact make her an influential figure within the fashion industry and a true inspiration to aspiring designers and entrepreneurs alike.
Empowering Communities: The Journey of Augustina Grace Kufour
Augustina Grace Kufour is the Executive Director of the nonprofit Master-Pieced, Inc., which she founded in 2020 to help minorities and new immigrants in Lexington, Kentucky.
She is a sought-after human resources leader and specialist in compensation and Total Rewards strategy, currently in the role of Director of Global Compensation & Mobility for Valvoline Global Products.
She previously served at other major corporations including Johnson Controls, Plexus, and Connecticut Children’s Hospital. Earlier work included positions at Berkshire Health Systems, Intel, and the Federal Reserve Bank of Boston. Drawing on her human resources expertise, she has a passion for helping individuals discover their potential and communities to grow stronger.
Born in 🇬🇭Ghana, Kufour holds a master’s degree in communications from Clark University and is also a Maxwell International Certified Coach and Speaker.
