We think “problems” are roadblocks to achieving what you want, when it reality they are pathways.
Simply running into a “problem” forces you to take action to resolve it. That action will inevitably lead you to think differently, behave differently, and choose differently. The “problem” becomes a catalyst for you to actualize the life you always wanted. It pushes you from your comfort zone.

The best thing we ever did as a family, was to go on the road full time. Never in my life have I met so many amazing people who are living their life instead of waiting for life to happen to them!
This picture is full of amazing people, but two of them (Kate and Adam, all the way on the left) are no longer with us on this earth.
They chose to live their life on the road, in their Airstream, with their two huge dogs and they were the kindest people with huge hearts for everyone they met.❤️
They will be missed, but I hope if you’re reading this and you’re not sure what to do with your life… know that you are in full control of how you live it. Don’t spend your life wandering what’s going to happen next, make it happen instead. Don’t keep putting off tomorrow what you can do today.
Live life without waiting, because you never know what will happen tomorrow.
We love you guys and will miss you ❤️

I met a couple at this spot the other day and it was so overwhelming to see how many photographers are out taking pictures in the morning.
It’s a madhouse.
My very first thought is to get a far away from everyone else and try to capture something unique.

The life of a landscape photographer… large prints fill every corner of my living room as I slowly get the strength back in my arm to put my metal frames on them! Haha, that’s not even showing you the other half of the room with two more large pictures! 👊
When my garage gets built out, I will be ready to sell these! Hopefully in a couple months.

It has been 6 1/2 weeks since my surgery to reattach the tendon to my bicep! I’ve been shooting my elopements with one hand, but yesterday I was able to shoot TWO cameras, using my left arm to focus and change my focal length on my 70-200!
It was honestly emotional for me to be able to do this again. I thought I wouldn’t be able to shoot two cameras for a few more months!
Here’s a pic of me shooting that rhonda took and here are more from the day.
I still can’t off-road by myself, but hopefully that will change soon with more physical therapy.
I’ve learned a lot of patience and appreciation for what our bodies are capable of recovering from. ❤️

I haven’t posted in a while because I recently ruptured the tendon attached to my left bicep. I had surgery a week later and I’ve been in recovery for the last two weeks. This is an injury that’s going to take about six months to completely recover from if I do everything right with physical therapy. But it’s not stopping me from shooting my elopements with one hand! Here are a couple of pictures from my last Elopement up in the mountains! I have to have somebody drive me, but I’m still able to take pictures with my right hand fortunately! It’s going to be a tough rest of the year, but I have so much amazing support especially from my amazing wife and son. God is good and I am going to grow from this experience. ❤️

Today, we remember the men and women who have died for our country. I chose to post this picture because it shows how many people actually play a role in making things happen in the military. Whether they were on a flight deck or in the trenches of battle, they are the reason we get to live in a free country.
It took a lot of hard work and sacrifice to get to where we are today. It’s easy to forget that, which is why Memorial Day is so important. We are able to express ourselves and fight for what we believe in, because others have fought and died for that freedom.
Freedom is not free.

I love looking for balance in my photos. What is balance? It’s when a picture feels comfortable, because there’s breathing room around your subject. Nothing is cut off in your image and there’s a relaxing feeling when you look at it. Balance is something you really have to pay attention to before you take the picture. You can’t crop it later in post. It’s always made through the lens in the moment.
For this picture, I remember taking three steps to the left to find good balance. It’s only three steps, but it put just enough space between each subject so that nothing was hidden or cut off.
Next time you’re out taking pictures, pay attention to balance in your shot and move left, right, up or down to achieve it.

I love these mountains! They fill me with happiness every time I pay a visit, like a patient friend who is always happy to see me when I’ve been away too long.

Thanks for checking out Joe Hendricks Photography! Joe is our photographer, who cut his teeth in the U.S. Navy as a Photographer’s Mate, and has been shooting for 23 years. Rhonda is our business manager, supporting our full-time photography business for the last 10 of those years. We had an amazing time establishing a very successful wedding photography business in Nashville, but our thirst for adventure wasn’t being quenched. So in 2016, we sold everything and hit the road in our Airstream, traveling across the country to photograph the most incredible landscapes in America!

We fell in love with Colorado, and eventually settled our family in the San Juan Mountains near Ridgway and Telluride. We’ve combined our award-winning wedding photography with our epic landscape photography... the result is adventurous elopements in the mountains of Colorado.

Of course, if you’re not getting married we offer mountain family portraits, photography coaching, and amazing landscape art for your home.

We hope you enjoy the photos, camera tips, and more that we share on this page. Thank you for coming along on our journey, and helping us sustain our business and support our family!
