We are pleased to announce a series of cooking and nutrition classes made possible under a grant from the USDA through the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus - Centers for American Indian and Alaska Native Health and the Prevention Research Centers.
While this program is designed for recipients of SNAP (food stamp) benefits, the classes are free and open to the general public. Registration is on a first come, first served basis. For more information about registration, please contact Elaine Velazquez at 719-672-3346 or email
There is no registration fee. The 2024 program opens with Chef Nekia Allen this Saturday, July 13, 1-3pm at the San Luis Peoples Market Annex, 303 vega St.
Chef Nekia describes herself as "a Black Woman, born to 2 young entrepreneurs in the 80's and raised in Southern California. I have been working with food since I was 8 years of age...I love exploring culture through food, music, and art in its many expressions.
