Infield Arm angle and Throwing drill. I have had the opportunity to attend about 20 🥎 games in the last month. One of the reoccurring theme I see is the SS and 2nd baseman in both 10U & 12U lack confidence in their ability to make an overhand throw or flip the 🥎 underhand to the baseman. My daughter is just as guilty. That is why between games and team practice we will put in extra reps with drills similar to the ones in this video. This will lead to your young athlete improving reaction time and their ability to get rid of the 🥎 with confidence from any angle or distance while holding down the infield.

Frisbee Fun
Hand-eye coordination drill!
Parents/Coaches, to work on hand-eye coordination try using a frisbee. A frisbee tends to float a little longer and it forces the player to wait for it to glide down for a good catch. In the beginning, this will frustrate your player, but once they get the hang of it they really enjoy it. 🇺🇸🥎⚾️
Parents, while all youth sports are on hold you can still get outside and get some reps in. Take about 2-10 🎾 and use the side of your house. These wall ball drills help your child with hand eye coordination. Start slow & speed it up as they get the hang of it. You will be surprised at how much fun they will actually have. Then trade spots and let them see you struggle a little 😎. Try to have them use their face mask, bare handed, & then with their glove on. Work on close & longer catches. Keep building those happy memories! 🇺🇸🥎
“Angels Among Us”
During these stressful times there are “Angels Among Us.” I want to thank all of the amazing people who are working around the clock to ensure the children and families in our community are fed, cared for, and supported in this time of uncertainty! Last Friday (28Feb) I got to attend the Eastover-Central Elementary School for their Multicultural Fair where students got to pick a country and learn about that countries animal population and provided facts they had learned leading up to the event with visitors who attended their Multicultural Fair. Thanks to first grade class of Mrs. Cassone for allowing me to visit with her 19 students where they shared their amazing costumes and facts that they had studied about Australia's wildlife!
Kids in Sports Valentine's Day 2020
Last week I got to spend Valentine's Day with my lovely wife and our youngest son, Kye. He is three years old. We attended the "Kids in Sports" program held at the Hope Mills Recreation Center from 10:30-12:30. This is a geat program ran by Sonji Clyburn. This is an instructional sports program for children 12 months to 12 years old. All the kids had a great time. Check this program out if you have little ones that you want to put in sports as they get older.
