This weeks mix is rhythmic tracks that are current and from the past few years. I began and ended the mix with songs from two local Maine artists. I always make it a point to support local artists that have tracks that fit what is going on either on Rhythmic or Urban Radio. It is good to support local artists, however people also need to engage with content that promotes these local artists for it to matter. Even when playing live at venues I try and drop local tracks and sometimes they hit and sometimes they don't.

Big shouts out to the folks thst came out last night to the Winslow VFW for the Saturday Night Party. With the crowd that we had I want to going with more flashback music and throwback hip hop. There were a couple of requests for Jelly Roll. It was a fun night for the people that came out. We will see you all again at a future date to be determined.

Each week the Mix I make, or a past mix if I was not in the zone or had other stuff going on, runs on every Wednesday on 93.5 WRLY-LP Raleigh on the Humpday Mix at 3PM. It can be streamed here at that time http://www.oak935.org/ if you are not in the Raleigh area. You can also stream it at your convenience on my Mixcloud which is https://www.mixcloud.com/DJScottB/ When I post these mixes on here, and also share them to my personal page, for some reason these do not show up in peoples feeds. I see the metrics on them and some weeks the only engagement is me sharing it to my personal page and it gets a post impression / reach of 35-45. What that translates to is these are not showing up in feeds. The best way to keep up with these mixes is to create a login on Mixcloud and then you can follow me on there and get a notification when a new mix is posted as Facebook is not effective for getting these into feeds. You can also follow other DJs on there as well that upload mixes.

Alright, big shouts out to the folks that came out to The Quarry Taproom in Hallowell for The Friday Night Dance Party. We started off a tad slow and then people started to roll in. We had a number of Camp Counselors in the building from the camp in Belgrade. Cooper Fox was in the building at the bar, and these two girls thought I was Cooper and I was like "No, he's at the bar." I walk over to the bar and I'm like "come here for a minute", and I introduced him to the two girls that were listeners that were fired up to meet him. Musically it was more of a Top40 Pop night and not as much Hip Hop as usual. I dropped a few local tracks and a couple of them hit and couple of them not as much. As always it was a fun night at Club Q122 and we will see you all again in the near future at a date to be determined.

Big shouts out to the folks that came out the High Tide Rockland for retro night. As we always do in these posts, we have to talk about the food. I had the Mediterranean Pasta with Chicken. I had them spice it up a little bit. It was really tasty. The food out here is always good. Of the several things I've had here over the past year my favorite thing was the Moussaka when it was on special. We had a number of folks that came out and threw down to some party throwbacks. Musically I played mostly Flashback Friday music. That was an event that used to happen in Waterville from 2016 to the end of 2019. We will be doing this again in the future and we will see you all again at a future date to be determined.

Alright, Big Shouts out to the folks that came out last night to Carolinas Sports & Spirits for the Independence Day Edition of Industry Night. The bar was busy and we had a lot of people chilling out on the Oasis. There were some people dancing, but most people were just having a good time with their friends and chilling out and drinking and vibing at a table. There were not a whole lot of requests. Throughout the night I played mostly newer Hip Hop & R&B, 2010s, and some high test 90s and 2000s. There were not many requests, but some of what was requested was Taylor Swift, 50 Cent and Mac Miller. Speaking of Vibing at the table, the chick that requested some Taylor Swift was singing some of the songs I dropped. She was fired up when I dropped "I Can Do It With A Broken Heart. That song should have been the lead off single from her latest project and not Fortnight. The way I handle Taylor Swift in these settings is I play more of her uptempo crossover and remixes. It was good to see some of my weekly regulars that showed up towards the end of the night after they got off work. For dinner I had one of the specials, which was the Teriyaki Chicken Strips over Rice with some Pineapple and Broccoli. This is really tasty. We do Industry Night each and every Thursday and we will see you all out there again next Thursday.

Alright, here are the pictures from The Saturday Night Dance Party last night at Big Bites / Big Shots Old Orchard Beach. Now some people think Old Orchard Beach is all about Hip Hop, and it is not. With the diversity of tourists in the area it is more of a Top40 / Electro Pop / Throwback Vibe. People out here like more Throwback Hip Hop than current Hip Hop. We had a couple of bachelorette parties in the building. It was actually a very similar vibe to what I've had in the past in North Conway. There were way more women in the building than fellas. What is really cool is dropping some tracks that always hit in Central Maine and people may or may not have heard them but they hit down somewhere else. For example FM$ by Nee Boyz or Do Si Do by Flo-Rida. Some of my most requested tracks here are Stereo Love (Molella Remix) (This was the uptempo version that made it a hit), Nicki Minaj - Anaconda and Backstreet Boys - Everybody (Backstreets Back), to which I play the Extended Mix. The song is what a lot of people listened to when it came out, whatever. Everyone wasn't listening to Sevendust and Outkast at that time, you know what I mean. We even dropped Kwinton Mikal's new song "I Don't Want Any", and it hit. I went from that right into Pop Smoke x 50 Cent - The Woo. We also can't forget to mention that a decent amount of people requested a lot of Reggaeton. I do have to be selective with songs as it needs to be kept somewhat familiar with that genre, but it generally goes over. Core songs by artists like Daddy Yanker, Farruko, Bad Bunny, and newer songs like Bellakeo by Peso Pluma feat. Anitta, which was a charting song played on Hot Radio Maine and Darrell - Lollipop or Lollipop (Remix), which is just that good. It was a great night with only a minimal amount of drama. We will see you all again on Saturday August 3rd. Oh yeah, and of course we always have to mention food when applicable. I decided to try one of the burgers here and it was really good. They put two 1/3 Patties on the bun and whatever toppings you have which I modified the burger that I ordered. This burger was solid and the coleslaw was good as well. I did have some chocolate ice cream with sprinkles from Big Licks, a sister business downstairs and that ice cream is always good.

Big shouts out to the folks that came out Thursday Night to Carolinas Sports & Spirits in Bangor for Industry Night. The night is building. First off let's talk about the food as we always do that on these posts. I had the pulled pork sandwich and it was really good. I had them add a couple of more vegetables to it and had them spice it up. The rice was also really good as I am not always in the mood for fries. The Cannoli was good as well. If you're in the Bangor area and definitely want some good bar fare this is a grest place to go. We had a study amount of people throughout the night in the Oasis. It was good to see Trisha and company as well as Courtney and company. Later in the night I was talking to someone and they remembered me, and it turns out she was the bartender when I djed up in Ashland at what was Crown of Maine the Friday of the 4th of July weekend. Later in the night ot evolved into girls night out. We do this each and every Thursday night and we will see you all again on the 4th of July for the Independence Day edition of industry night.

This weeks mix is the type of music that should mostly be on the urban music radio format. Some of these songs are and a lot of these are not. This is the type of music that I like to play, but outside of a song or two here and there it is not what most people are on.

For example most people listening to mainstream urban music are on songs like Bossman DLow - Get In With Me, Tommy Richman - Million Dolllar Baby and 21 Savage - Redrum. That stuff is played up here on the Rhythmic station, but it's just not music that fires a person up.
